Guest guest
Does any one know if there is a connection between sarcoidosis and herpes. I was diagnosed with herpes shortly after sarcoidosis but I have had the same sexual partern for the last 20 years and he does not have it. I don't understand. Guest guest
Sandy, have you ever had cold sores/fever blisters? It's a different strain of herpes, but can be transferred from your face to the nether regions & cause the same symptoms. Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine. Guest guest
No I never had fever blisters or anything like that before being diagnosed with sarcoid. I had never even seen anything like that on myself or my partern. > > > Sandy, have you ever had cold sores/fever blisters? Guest guest
Sandy, did they actually do a culture? Some providers just eyeball the lesion & make a diagnosis. You really need a culture for diagnosis. If you had a positive culture, hard to say. I've had patients carry the virus for a few years without a breakout, but I don't know about 20 years. I worked as a nurse-midwife for 20 yrs. & a labor & delivery nurse for 10 before that. Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine. Guest guest
No I did not have I culture, the doctor did an eyeball diagnose, however I have had repeated outbreaks and bells palsy. But my partner remains outbreak free and we do not use protection. > > > > > > > > > Sandy, have you ever had cold sores/fever blisters? Guest guest
Hello Sandy, Sounds as if people are interpreting 'herpes' to mean Herpes simplex types 1 & 2, responsible for cold sores and genital symptoms. Perhaps your physician referred to Herpes zoster, also known as 'shingles', a nerve infection caused by the same virus that causes chicken pox. People who get chicken pox typically have some of the virus left over dormant. In some people it reawakens eventually as shingles. Herpes simplex and Herpes zoster are the scientific names of two different species of bacteria. If someone said Canus lupus to you it might not mean as much as the common term 'wolf' but to the specialist it means more. So, if your doctor meant Herpes zoster and simply did a poor job of translating to what the rest of us understand you may be looking for not a history of genital lesions but a previous exposure to chicken pox. You might ask your physician which species of Herpes virus he/she was talking about.
