Guest guest
Just to let you all know, we chelated our son for 9 months, and have just stopped. (we learned there was corn in his DMSA, his chelating agent) BUT, it DID improve SEVERAL areas...His expressive speech, his social initiaions, his eye contact AND his " clarity " ....(hard to describe that one...) SO I am MORE than pleased... we will be retesting his mercury levels, and might begin chelation again If need be (with a different agent) JMO-Shari
Guest guest
Terry, I apologize for butting in here, but have been reading the posts on chelation. In one of the earlier posts (sorry, I've forgotten who wrote it!), the blood tests were mentioned. I agree that any kind of testing, particularly blood draws, are very traumatic for most of our kids. However, in my opinion (which doesn't amount to much), they are very necessary. I was a little frightened of chelating in the beginning, but after researching it and discussing it with our doctor, I decided we had no choice. The blood tests are very necessary to me because they check the copper and zinc levels, which can be easily depleted. They also keep tabs on things like liver function, etc. Urinalysis, stool testing, and hair analysis are also important. I do realize that different docs do it different ways. Something I've had to remind myself of is that the mercury and other metals are the reason (or one of the main ones) that my son and so many others have these gut issues, etc. As a registered nurse, I felt like chelating was something we had to do for Dylan. We have been doing this for 6 months now, and yes we have seen small improvements in various areas. BUT, overall, he is and will continue to be much healthier physically. Anyway, I just wanted to throw my two cents in here. Yes, it is complicated, and chelating involves blood tests and other tests that can be " painful " to our children. But, for us, it has been well worth it thus far. Dylan is getting better and healthier. I hope I haven't offended anyone with this. Just wanted to let you know that, so far, we have had a positive experience, and hopefully, we will continue to. Good luck!!
