Guest guest
Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has used the NoJo or New Native baby carrier while their baby was in casts or in the DBB? Keira loves to be carried around and I was thinking of getting one of these types of carriers but of course it will have to work with the casts or shoes & bar. I have the Baby Bjorn also and that works well but wanted to try one of the other ones and I have the Over the Shoulder Baby Holder which is bulky and awkward to use and makes me feel like a frumpy suburbanite (not that there's anything wrong with that :-)). Thanks and hope you are all well. Halley
Guest guest
I just want to let you know I also purchased the maya wrap for my daughter. I have used it since she was born--even with the casts since she was so young. She is now in the brace and I haven't tried using the wrap with it, but I think it will be just fine. I really like the wrap, it is cozy for mom/dad and baby. and Rich wrote: Halley, We have the maya wrap. We used the baby bjorn while my son Logan was in the cast (and loved it), however found it tricky, but not impossible with the bar. The maya wrap is simple and a little more " snuggly " then the bjorn. I find it much easier to put him in with the FAB. I'm not familiar with those other carriers, however I have seen other products that look just like our maya wrap. The way we use it with him with the fab is that I just put the sling on, drop him through from the top so the bottom goes snuggly under his bottom and the top of the sling supports his head. He loves it. Here is the web site. I bought it from the site, however you can also buy from a rep if there is one local to you. http://www.mayawrap.com <http://www.mayawrap.com/> and Logan lcf 4.5mo 1 mo in the FAB 23/7 using sling style carrier with casts & DBB Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has used the NoJo or New Native baby carrier while their baby was in casts or in the DBB? Guest guest
I did use a pouch type carrier as well as an adjustable sling and a mei tai carrier. My favorite when my kids were infants, including my cf daughter, was the moby wrap. You can adjust several of the carries from wraps to go between the legs when they are wearing the bar - just pad your body where the bar hits or you might have a bruise or two! I make my own carriers as it is usually cheaper. Here are some sites that have info on carriers, making your own and an overview of the many different ways you can wear your baby with each kind. www.peppermint.com www.thebabywearer.com http://www.kellymom.com/parenting/sling.html#sewing http://www.sleepingbaby.net/jan/index.html?Baby/index.html http://www.mayawrap.com/sewSling.shtml Not to make you nervous or anything but the bjorn isn't the best carrier for babies without the weight of casts let alone having those hang there as well. The width of the support and the way the baby's legs hang from the spine with the bjorn and other carriers like it don't support the baby appropriately. I carried my first in a bjorn but then I found a pouch and a sling. I haven't looked back! As my children aged, the mei tai is a wonderful way to carry them securely on your back or stomach and I've even carried my daughter on my hip while in her FAB with it. I highly recommend babywearing. And yes, it works wonderfully with cf babies! Guest guest
www.peppermint.com is a great site to go to compare many different sling/wrap etc options. We had a Sutemi pack that worked great with Kelsey in her FAB but she was older and I believe the ages on this one start at 6 months. Guest guest
Is the Maya " Wrap " the same as the Maya " Sling " ? I have a Maya sling... I haven't tried it with the FAB yet. I'm curious how it will work. & Rory rcf 11-2-05 Halley, > > > > We have the maya wrap. Guest guest
My sling is basically a loop of fabric that wads up small enough to fit in a coat pocket, I just love it and I have seen it called Maya wrap and sling both on various web sites. It is non-adjustable and does not have padded sides. It can be used in a variety of positions however - on the hip, on my back, on my front, either hip...and his favorite once he could sit up was to plant his fanny in the front as if he were sitting in a play ground swing, facing foward (away from me). That worked very well when he had the bar on. The whole thing though, also worked quite well during casting as he was so small back then he'd just swaddle down inside of it. It is quite simple to make an adjustible sling yourself by purchasing about 2 1/2 yards of limber fabric (sturdy but not real stiff), and two brass rings you find in the craft area of your store, about 3 " in size. Gather your long stip of fabric and double it over at one end with the rings in the fold and sew it shut, so now you have this long stip of material with the two rings at one end. Lace the other end of your fabric through the rings...go under both rings then up and over one ring / under the other to secure it and it won't slip unless you want to adjust the length. I made one by hand at the Mc House with a needle and thread for about $5. These are kind of bulky but serve the purpose and some say the " tail " of material works well as an extra cover in the wind, or perhaps as a cover while breast feeding, etc. s. using sling style carrier with casts & DBB > > > > Hello, > > I was just wondering if anyone has used the NoJo or New Native baby carrier > while their baby was in casts or in the DBB?
