Guest guest
Oh I feel so badly for your husband. It sounds like he really tried very hard. I can hardly believe how ignorant that lady was. I think people really just choose not to believe us when we say our kids cannot have wheat/dairy. My struggle is with my MIL. They came over to watch the girls on Monday night and showed up with a special little apple pie for the girls. " Could she please have just a little bit? " I said I preferred that she not have it. So she said could she just scoop out the apple filling and give her that? I said no please don't give her any. I'd made GFCF choc. chip cookies for my in-laws to treat the girls. I could tell she was mad at me. My husband said he would talk to her. Every single time we leave the girls with them, there is either an infringement or she begs me to give the girls something not on the diet! I'm trying to be strict about the diet right now because this week it will be 6 months GFCF and we want to do a test. But I cant' seem to go more than 2 weeks lately without some kind of infringement! My sympathies, ! People regularly want to sabotage the diet...and I'd say that lady's behavior borders on sabotage of the diet. Makes you want her to come witness the effects if Redden has a bad reaction! Guest guest
My sympathies to you. I've been there as well, people are stupid. My son was given popcorn with extra butter, but was told it didn't have any milk product in it. And this is after I took all his food, and explained that that was all he could have, (but this was just plain popcorn!). I think it's best to take the food and explain (like someone on this list said) that he has 911 reactions, and they will have to accompany him to the hospital if they give him anything else. I think I might add that they must react immediately if he gets anything else, or else it might be too late!! Lolita >. She told him NO. He ate three. Upon being told after >church, my husband told her that he had said no wheat. She told him >it didn't have wheat it was made from Pillsbury dough. AGGHHHHHH!!!! Guest guest
>I am so mad I could spit. Just how dumb have people gotten >today >that they don't know that cookies and dough are made from >flour and >flour is made from wheat (in general). Just how dumb...the woman that takes care of my grandmother told me she baked my kids some muffins (she knows about the allergies). I said that I was sorry that Austin wouldn't be able to eat them since he's allergic to wheat. She said, " oh, but I used *unbleached* flour " ! Last Friday, my parents offered to babysit so I provided all the food Austin would need for the evening. My Dad called while they were there and said they were going to Dairy Queen and " what could Austin have there? " . I said he couldn't have anything there. Instead, he said they would go to Sonic and get a Lemon/Lime slush. I said OK. I found out the next day that they had gone to Sonic and gotten the slush AND FRENCH FRIES, and not only that my mom had put BUTTER on the can of corn I had sent for dinner. My parents are very nice, but need to GET A CLUE!!!! So, , I know what you mean!!!!! in TX
