Guest guest
Money is definately an issue - no sense pretending it's not. We've struggled to cover all the treatments and have managed thus far with the help of others like Dr. Ponseti and Angel Flights and the Mc House and the patience of the University Billing Office.....and we're looking in to going to Shriners this time around because with out medical insurance, self employed with a little shop such as we are, it's just painfully impossible to keep making the bills. But with all that said, life is just one big gamble anyway, one giant leap of faith. And if I don't go get Everett out of the bathroom he's going to run my water bill up a hundred bucks since he learned to flush the toilet today. s. hello all...question My son Karter, 15 months, has blcf. Have started seeing Dr. P. Anyway he has been recasted 4 times since his first sets at birth. We see Dr. P. again on Mon. He has never had a tenotomy. He feet correct easily with the casts, but also relapse easily if out of shoes for any amount of time. My question is since he keeps relapsing would the temotomy fix this problem. He was to have the tenotomy, but Dr. P. felt he did not need it. He is now to be in shoes 16-18 hours a day, but we are still doing 20-22 for the fact that I am so scared that he will relapse. To all that helped a few weeks ago when Karter had terrible sores on his feet. THANK YOU!!! His feet look better, but it looks like we will have scares. The sore that was on the top of his foot will scare for sure and also seems to be swollen. Will see what Dr. P. thinks on Monday. Last... ee You are a wonderful person and a very good mother and friend for helping everyone on this board. We to are thinking, just thinking, of having another child. For us it was never a issue if he/she will have cf, but more the $$$ involved with the treatment. Guest guest
Tabitha, My daughter did have tenotomies on both of her feet initially and she still relapses. We're on our third relapse and we see Dr. P as well. She has very atypical feet and he's about to decide whether to do another tenotomy on her left which is the relapsing foot. So I don't know that the tenotomy is the real issue. Are Karter's feet atypical? We'll be there on Monday as well. Chris hello all...question My son Karter, 15 months, has blcf. Guest guest
Karter's feet are not atypical. Originally we thought that it was from our first Dr. who never over corrected the feet. He has not relapsed since starting to see Dr. P. in Sept. What time is your appt.? Maybe I will see you there. Our appt. is at 10:30 which was good for us because we have almost a 2 hour drive and all the other appts. where at 8:30 which makes for an early morning for my 5 year old. Guest guest
Tabitha, I am so glad to hear that Karter's feet are doing better. I have been wondering. Give those sores a few more months, they may surprise you yet. Babies heal well. I thought Tenny's foot would scar in a few places, one spot did, but the rest a beautiful...... Just took a few months. Isn't reduced time wonderful... hello all...question My son Karter, 15 months, has blcf. Have started seeing Dr. P.
