Guest guest
Hello All, My name is , from Seattle, and I'm looking into starting the process for DS. I have Regence Blue Shield PPO and I know they have an exclusion clause but I don't remember if they will override it with a medical necessity. I've just scheduled an appointment with my primary care physican to make my case to her. I'm very well informed of the proceedure, risks, and lifestyle changes such a proceedure requires. I'm sure I will make a powerful case, especially with my back problems. You all have been very helpful in compiling information. > > For those of you who are on the constipation side of things, did it slow your > weight loss? I mean, when whatever you are eating is sitting around for a > week, exactly where is it sitting, and are more calories being absorbed? I didn't see anyone give a specific answer to this, so I will. Having been cronically constipated for about 10 years, I can tell you that, yes, the longer stuff sits around in your intestines (no matter how short) the more that will be absorbed: vitamins, fat, calories, etc... That stuff is fermenting in the intestines, and a situation like this over time can lead to ulcers (little holes burned into the intestinal wall). I had Regence BS of Idaho and they had an exclusion too and denied the surgery but since I have medicare on top of it, medicare overturned Regence (to their dismay!) I hope you win though! They are a tough company to deal with. Judie
