Guest guest
Pam, First, I hate when my computer sends mail before I tell it to! About the pain, I truly can't answer that because I really don't know what yours feels like. I can say that drinking was very uncomfortable for me, for quite a long time, probably close to 12 weeks. I was extremely thirsty, yet just could not get down enough liquid. I can't tell you exactly when the change occurred, but I no longer experience pain when drinking. Sometimes I still get full from drinking, and can't get enough liquids in. I am pretty faithful about not drinking within 30 minutes of a meal. I also don't drink for at least 30 minutes after a meal. Sometimes it is more like 1-2 hours after a meal before I can fit in any liquid. Have you tried thicker liquids, like juice or milk? They seemed to be easier for me to handle in the beginning. Pain with food...that seemed an early problem that went away rather quickly. I really don't remember how soon though! Sorry I can't be more helpful... Dawna
Guest guest
Hi Pam I am had the DS 6 months ago, my best friend had hers 8 months ago. She and I both suffered pain when we ate, it hurt when the food went into my stomach. I like you ate very small amounts and thought it would never stop hurting to eat. Fortunetly for both of us the pain stopped after about 3.5 months. I have not had to many experiences with it again except when I eat hamburger it hurts, other than that I can eat whatever I want. I had a cocktail 3 weeks post op and everything was fine. Dr. A says it is fine to drink in moderation, in fact his nurse told me to be careful because I would get intoxicated faster since surgery. Guest guest
Some docs will recommend that you not drink h20 with meals--so it doesn't thin out the food and empty the stomach too quickly and thus you eat more. Also because you have to eat slower without liquids, you give your body time to feel full.
