Guest guest
Hi Jackie, I am so sorry you have to fight the shingles. I have had them three different times -- and each time, they were very rough. The last time I had them was in 2006 when I was in the hospital for three months and almost died. According to the Doctors, I had one of the worst cases they had ever seen. The only thing that helped me was Valtrex. It finally eased the itching and the pain. My heart goes out to you because (as I have stated), I have had them three times and it certainly is no picnic. Valtrex is a prescription.......and it may not work for you as sometimes a med that works for one person does not work for another..........but...........try it. Hope this helps. Sending lots of hugs and well wishes, Darlene NS Co-Owner/Moderator Darn Hi everyone. I don't know if this is considered a flare or not but it is crappy, itchy and painful. I have my FIRST EVER bout with shingles. I don't know how it started the doctors seem to think it is the stress I have been under lately. My other half was on a 3 year drunk and it almost killed him. The he decides to go to Texas and I have to make all the arrangements. He has been sober for about a month now but he has turned into a jerk. Nothing I do makes him happy and he finds everything wrong with the world. waa waa waa I know. I am bitching. Sorry. If I complain to my family they want me to leave him. ly I have thought of that but he is really a good man and I love him. He stuck with me through all of this when he could have just walked out. We are not married. We were 10 years ago for 9 years. I left somewhat for the same reasons. He waited for me all those years. Just before I got the monster we got back together. He should have run like a rabbit. I know I told you all this before. I am just so confused right now. I wonder if it would be better for both of us If I did leave. I don't know I think I need to talk to someone. well anyway the reason I am really posting is I want to know if anyone has any suggestions for this shingles. I am on a virus killer big time and I am up to 40 mg of prednisone, 3 days, 20, 3 days then my reg. I hope it works. I am using calamine lotion to help stop the itching and hydrocodine for the pain. Makes me sleep. The darn thing started on my back and is almost all the way around my waist. It has only been since Friday. anyway can anyone help???? hope everyone else is doing fine. hoping for a pain free dayS for you all. Still in my prayers. Scratchly yours. Guest guest
Jackie, Sorry you are having such a bad time. I had shingles on my face and all I can say is just do what the doc suggested for relief. There is not a whole lot more you can do but try to get comfortable. The more stress the worse it is for you. Do your best to try to relax. Praying for you. Guest guest
Jackie, I had to tell myself the same thing; when you have shingles on your face you don't lay on them! I can't imagine having them on a place where I had to lay on them or wear clothing that would touch them. Ouch... Terri G. > > Terri > Thank you for your concern. I am feeling better with the exception of I try not to lay on the shingles thus my back is really killing me. I cried because I had no shoes then I saw the man who had no feet. I just got to keep remembering that. > Prayers and blessings to all. > Jackie
Guest guest
I just have my man plant me in the corner of the room with braces so I don't fall and sleep that way. lol Just when I thought they were going away here they are again. I got to find a way to stop stressing about why the Mississippi keeps flooding. Jim tells me if I don't have something to worry about I make it up. It is tuff though but I am a survivor as we all are. Hey we can do anything, except beat this monster. Well we have to have one downfall.
