Guest guest
Hi and welcome, The FAB will not work on a baby with feet that are not fully corrected, it will be painful for baby to wear! If your little one's feet do not look good to you, they are NOT fully corrected and you NEED to take your child to get re-casted before he/she will be able to wear the FAB comfortably. When treated properly, the feet should look great/'normal'. The fact that you say that the difference is increasing makes me think that you are seeing relapse and it sounds like the feet were not corrected properly in the first place. Since your child has already had the tenotomy performed, it is very important that you find an experienced doctor to fix his/her feet properly (Ponseti trained). The difference between Ponseti trained and Non- Ponseti trained doctors is absolutely amazing! In the right hands, your child will have feet that will look and function totally 'normally', no one can even tell which one of Grace's feet was clubbed, not even her Ped. This is the kind of treatment that you should be receiving =) Where do you live? Hopefully someone will be able to chime in here and recommend a good doctor in your area. Our daughter's foot was ready for the FAB with 4 casts (no tenotomy) and she was in her brace at just over 2 mos old. Your baby is still very young and in the right hands his/her feet will be all fixed up and ready for the brace in no time. Check out the links section to the left, you will find Dr. Ponseti's webb site and there is a list of certified Ponseti doctors there. This list keeps growing all the time and I am not sure how up to date it is, so please do let us know where you live so we can try to help you find a qualified doctor to help your little baby! & Grace 17 mos Unilateral rcf FAB 13 hrs > > has anyone had poor correction in a foot after heel cord release?
