Guest guest
Hey guys, I have a big overbite and a recessed chin and plan on getting surgery in the summer before I go to college. I'm worried that I may not be healed by college though, and I really don't want to go to school all swollen. So could someone please tell me what the recovery time is like and how long it took before they were presentable and could eat?
Guest guest
Hi-- had upper moved up 9mm, little over and back about 2mm...and genio...was banded CLOSED totally for just over 3wks, then OPEN-how wonderful that was anyway, my surg took a while, I want to say 6 hrs, and I was swollen for about 2 wks...but as week 2 came along it was just a little that I mostly noticed and my OS not " people " and I got feeling back very quickly about then too-lots of tingles and oh my god SO itchy! but that's cool bec it was coming back...how long before I could chew all stuff...like 8-10 wks...the bones take a true 10 wks to heal...so no steak or what not before...but bottom line--if summer, do it in late May when you first get home or early June so you have all the time you need, feeling rushed will NOT help your body or mind-set at all, and you will be VERY tired for close to that length of time 8-10 wks...I mean you can get on with life, but you will be pooped at days end and if there's major studying to do...may be tricky. So go for it and just try and do it early! Good luck and congrats on your plans! Guest guest
It's great to see that someone is in the same exact boat as me! I was afraid that I wouldn't be healed by college next year, but I'm sure that it will be okay. I was also upset because of course i dont want to miss out on a lot of my pre-college fun during summer. So hopefully I can at least do some of that. Question though, are you getting genio because you have a recessed chin? Because I have one, but my doctor didn't mention genio and I would like to correct my chin, so please let me know! > > I plan to do the same - well actually I'll be getting upper, lower, > and genio. IF all goes the way I want it, I'll be getting the surgery > during summer vacation before I head off to college. I have no doubt > it'll be enough time to heal - after all people get this surgery in > the midst of a normal working month and junk like that. I was even > hoping to spend at least the second month all healed and having some > last minute teenager fun'ness. -shrug- we'll see. =]
