I have a very dear friend that ended up in the emergency room from eating a

hot dog bun. it wasn't the hot dog that caused his problem it was the bun. it

had formed a ball and they had to remove it. him telling me that little

story makes me not want to take the chance.

It has always been my understanding that our bodies, whether altered through

surgery or completely intact, can't digest corn. You might be able to eat

it,but I am not sure you would get any benefit from it and not sure how that

would hinder digestion since it comes out (sorry to be blunt) in the same form

it went in.

Corn

Has anyone tried eating corn on the cob after surgery? I'm 9 weeks

post-op and while I can eat a lot more foods now, I'm leery of it. I

heard from the nutritionist that it can be hard to digest. But I must

say...it's looking good when I serve it to my family.

I'm almost 4 months out and have eaten corn on the cob a couple times in the

past month. I had no problems with it. Just ate 1/2 a cob with my grilled

chicken :o) I would make sure you chew well though.

I only repeated this story because the nutritionist claimed to have

known the nurse who ate it post GBS and had the problem. This was

supposed to be someone with whom she dealt personally. While I can't

swear to the veracity of anything that didn't actually happen to me,

the bread story makes sense. Remember what flour plus water equals?
