Guest guest
Halley, My 1st stayed breech until just a few days prior to delivery. There are some good books on the subject of turning one around - call a midwife or someone and ask what books /videos they might suggest. Search the net, etc. The night turned around in me, I was crawling on my hands and knees painting a base board, ..... more like I was crawling on my knees and elbows ..... a position that moved him up in my abdominal cavity, out of the confines of my hips where he could move, and boy did he ever move! Felt like a whale inside of me surfacing the water! Not painful but really really weird! I had also been laying on a board with my feet up, head down and doing those exercises where you arch your back like a cat, etc. And silly as it may sound, don't discount the power of postive thinking - communicate with the child, you can, talk to him/her, " Imagine " the baby turning, send lots of powerful mesasges to him all the time that he'll get turned right for an easy birth. Convince yourself it'll be a smooth, easy birth with him turned right. ended up head down but still came out " sunny side up " - not the easiest way to deliver but we did avoid the whole c-section thing. You're a smart woman looking for alternatives! s. baby is breech at almost 36 weeks Hello, I went for a prenatal check yesterday and my baby is breech. I will be 36 weeks on Monday so not sure if she can still turn. I had an ultrasound and they think she is already 7lbs. My last baby was 10lbs 15oz so this isn't a huge surprise. Anyway, I would like to avoid a C-section so I am willing to try anything: lyining inverted, handstands in the pool, acupuncture, moxibustion. I have read about each of these things working but then I am sure some babies still turn on their own. I am also worried now because after reading about breech babies on the internet, they are more likely to have hip dysplasia etc. Should I be worried about this or is it still unlikely? I don't think she was breech at my appointment two weeks ago so she must have turned recently. Thanks everyone and hope you are all doing well. Guest guest
Hi DeeDee, That is very encouraging! I am hoping she will turn and I'm going to try some things to help her along. Sometimes the internet can be great and other times it can scare the living daylights out of you! I looked up breech and then find about association with hip problems, autism etc. Gee, I really am just trying to get prepared for a clubfoot here and really don't want to worry about anything else! But then, i can always find something to worry about....I guess that's just me. Good thing my husband is as cool as a cucumber. I love the Isabella updates by the way and I pray her treatment goes right on track. Guest guest
Halley- My brother was a breech baby and had no ill affects. My mom-don't know how she did it-birthed him naturally as well! good luck with the turning=you would be amazed at how often the somersaults occur during the final weeks. take care, kathleen > > Hi DeeDee, > > That is very encouraging! Guest guest
Hi Halley, I don't really know anything about this but I thought it might cheer you up to know that the second of my twins was actually still lying traverse (across my tummy) after I had given birth to the first one. The doctor managed to manouvre him around and he came out head first too, so there's hope I'd say... All the best, with (3y) (the one lying acrosss... ) and Alister (3y, RCF, Ponseti method, UK) --- Halley Prestage wrote: > Hello, > > I went for a prenatal check yesterday and my baby is > breech. Guest guest
Shoot girl if you can deliver a 10'15 baby vaginally than a breech should be a walk in the park for you! Guest guest
My son was breech @ 33 weeks - and I did all the lying inverted exercises ( w/ bum up in the air) which I foudnd to be super uncomfortable. And I went to a chiropracter. My mid- wife suggested him. Three times a week for three weeks. But you could probably go daily. At 36 weeks I had an ultrasound and he had turned!Just in time b/c my water broke three weeks early - the very next day. Incidentally, I was born breech (vaginally) and have no hip problems at all. Good luck! > > > > Hello, > > > > I went for a prenatal check yesterday and my baby is breech. I will > be 36 > > weeks on Monday so not sure if she can still turn. Guest guest
Hi S, That's good to hear that babies can still turn even close to delivery. I will definitely try those exercises and maybe I'll have to get down on my hands and knees and scrub the floor a few times. If nothing else, I'll have a super clean floor! I was thinking of trying the moxibustion-like acupuncture but they burn these moxi herb sticks. Sounds strange but I guess it is very commonly used in China so we'll see...can't hurt anyway. I have heard many more ideas to turn the baby that seem even more stange than this. I will try the positive thinking/visualization and we'll see what happens! Thanks for the ideas! Guest guest
They can turn anytime up until they are born. It does get snugger in there, but it can definitely happen! What does your dr. say? As far as the hip dysplasia, the main risk factors are: girl, first born and breech. I think the longer they are breech the more likely they could have hip issues so I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point. I think it's like clubfoot in that it can happen for no obvious reason too. My daughter was born with a permanent dislocation and her only risk factor was being girl! Guest guest
Hi halley - my second baby was breech and I tried everything to turn her around short of standing on my head in a swimming pool. And the only reason I didn't do that was because I am not a very good swimmer and couldn't hold my breath that long! I tried all of the tricks: ironing board, bum in the air, playing music/shining light in my crotch, the Webster technique (chiropractic), moxibustion, praying, pleading with the baby, pulsatilla (tissue salts), two attempts at external versions (which were horrible), EVERYTHING! When it became apparent that she was not going to turn around, I decided that I wanted to try and deliver her. It is illegal in B.C. for midwives to deliver breech babies, so I had to go to the hospital (I wanted a home birth) and found a doctor that was willing to try and deliver. At least that was what she said. Once there, it all snowballed and sadly I had a c-section. Rather than having any hip troubles, Kes had " torticullis " - her neck was tilted slightly to one side because of being up under my ribcage for so long. This entailed some physiotherapy and home stretches for about the first four months or until she could hold her own head up evenly when on her tummy and she is completely fine. You might want to check out www.breechbabies.com - they are loaded with information and it helped me a lot. I wish you the very best of luck in getting your baby turned and keep the faith that your baby WILL. I didn't give up hope until the very last minute! P.S. My third baby was VBAC (even though they told me not to), so don't worry about that either if you are planning more babies! Guest guest
My girlfriend of mine whose baby was breeched put her feet up to the wall while laying on her ironing board and played music towards the bottom of her uterus to make baby turn around. Not sure if it worked or just a coincidence, but he turned around eventually. Halley Prestage wrote:Hi S, That's good to hear that babies can still turn even close to delivery. Guest guest
Since I can kind of hear what I play him I just play what ever I'm in the mood to listen to, but the choices stretch from one end of the scale to the other. My dh says, " You can't hear under water. Isn't the baby under water? " But I figure he can feel the vibrations if nothing else and anything to make his little wheels turn is fine by me. s. Re: baby is breech at almost 36 weeks No, I really do believe in that stuff. I didn't use a headset, but always played good music...at least, with #1 I was going through this " opera " phase--played that guy who was really popular (the blind singer?) constantly...by #3 it was rock. :-) Call me a bad mommy if you want, but you've never seen a 15 month old rock it so well or so much... > > > > > played music towards the bottom of her uterus > > > > Lovely...what a picturesque way of saying she was laying on an ironing > > board with a radio on her crotch. :-) > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
No, I really do believe in that stuff.
Guest guest
LOL! It was a flashlight and the other one that I didn't mention was I put a vibrator on her head. Yep - THAT KIND! All it did was irritate her and make her kick me in the crotch (a foreshadowing of her personality btw) and she never did turn away from it. Guest guest
You can't hear under water???? Tell hubby to go dunk his head in the tub and get & Everett to go zooming around the bathroom like I'm sure they do around you on a regular basis---then see if he can hear that!!!! Many people have the misconception that it's nice & quiet in the womb--just the opposite! Think of how loud your voice is *inside* your body--not to mention your heart, stomach, intestines, etc. It's a virtual symphony for the baby!! > > > > > > > played music towards the bottom of her uterus > > > > > > Lovely...what a picturesque way of saying she was laying on an ironing > > > board with a radio on her crotch. :-) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
