Guest guest
Hi all. Just wanted to let you know that everything went well and that I am home. Doc said surgery went well, (yeah, he wasn't the one getting sliced open). Just a few problems, but otherwise not so bad. Couldn't get the pain under control for awhile and was quite uncomfortable. They finally decided to knock me out with a combination of high dose Torodol and Vicodin ES, which helped me get some rest, but still wasn't cutting the mustard. Was just so tired of complaining. Then they put a pregnant woman who had to be monitored in my room with me, just as my doc was coming in to check on me. I asked him why they would put a pregnant woman in with someone who just had a hysterectomy and he was as baffled as I was. I guess it all just caught up with me and I started to cry when they put the fetal heart monitor on. Guess it was just knowing the finality of it all. I got myself into such a state I was sobbing, I couldn't stop. They found me another room and gave me a sedative. I kept apologizing and they were apologizing back because they were so swamped with women coming in and having babies and women who needed to be monitored, there was no place else to put them. We had no plans on having anymore children, but I guess making it a true " done deal " was more than I could handle at that point. I was so exhausted from feeling so miserable the past few months. Guess I needed to grieve a bit too. Anyway, I'm home, where I should be. Tim just left to pick up the kids and they will go to our neighbor's tonight for 4th of July. As for me, I " m heading back to the couch for a nap. Was in quite a bit of pain that they couldn't get under control again last night and they called the resident at 9 pm, by 5 am, I was hysterical and doubhled over and they finally gave me more morphine that knocked me on my ass until 9 this morning. My doctor took one look at me this morning and told me I wasn't going home. Told him what had happened and that the resident " couldn't come down until after 6 am " and that a nurse finally decided to go over that resident's head and get the order for the morphine. God bless that nurse. He then decided I could go home with instructions to take 2 Vicodin ES if needed and if that is not working to call him immediately. I have a very high tolerance for pain and this is extremely unusual for me. Just happy its all over and that I'm home. Thanks for all the notes and well wishes, I really appreciated it. Love all of you. Regina
Guest guest
Hi Sassy, Wow, that's amazing. They let you walk right away? I'm so glad you came through the surgery so well. You were and are in my prayers. SherriIsis wrote: Hello Everyone,I wanted to write and let everyone know that I am out and feeling great. By looking at me you would not be able to tell I had surgery yesterday. The nurses were impressed by how often I was walking the halls on my own. And the key is to walk. It really helps to wear off the morphine. I have not had any pain, just soreness. So I am greatful for that. I am also greatful for all the prayers and well wishes from the group. It has really meant a lot to me, and thank you Tony for keeping everyone updated on my progress.Well i'm off for another walk.Take care,Isis "sassy" How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Guest guest
Hi Jenn,Trust me it felt like I was wearing a think coat of morphine. I hate that feeling. They said it was the most fun they've had while performing any surgery! hahaha Morphine, a long time ago, used to be sold in drug stores, over the counter! That's about all I know about Morphine. Guest guest
Hi Damaris, In my opinion it is horrible. I know it takes the pain away but it also takes everything else away. I could not stay awake and for the brief moments I was awake it was like a thick fog in my mind. I could not focus on anything. Dr. Im said he came to see me three times and I don't remember any of his visits. My sister said I kept waking up just to say I hated morphine and then I was out again. I know I spoke to a few people, but I have no idea about what. That's why I kept getting up to walk. It really helped clear my mind.
