Guest guest
Terri, I had never heard of balloon flowers until my daughter gave me that plant last year. They really are neat; the kids have enjoyed spotting the ones about to open. My leg is no better. I'm getting an MRI on Tuesday to compare with the last one 3 years ago. I had a "provocative discography" 2-1/2 years ago where they inject dye into the discs to see if it produces the pain. This is to make sure the pain is actually coming from the disc rather than another cause. 2 of my discs were positive for pain & a third caused so much pain in my left leg that he couldn't even inject the dye--just getting close to the disc produced more pain than I could stand. That's the kind of pain I'm having now, so I have no doubt it's generated from my back. In the past I was told that back surgery would be likely to help back pain, but not leg pain, but now I'm finding info about microsurgery that is very successful for the leg pain. I guess I'll see what the MRI shows & go from there. I hope you are doing better. Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine. Guest guest
Thanks, Greg. Yesterday was pretty much pain-free because I accidentally took a quadruple dose of pain medication! I had used up the Percocet given to me by the E.R. last week & Monday I picked up another rx from my neuro. I didn't even look at the dose; just figured it was the same. Yesterday morning I decided to take 2 of them, because I really needed to get some stuff done. Of course I didn't realize I was taking 2 of the stronger pills. My leg didn't bother me much, until afternoon when I had to pay for the extra activity. Plus I was dizzy & loopy all day (all right, loopier than usual). Last night I didn't sleep much because of the pain, even with the pain meds. Once I overdo it, nothing helps much; ice does a little. Oh well, that's life, huh? Guest guest
Rose, You can seperate the balloon flowers in the spring and plant the in other places if you want. One of mine is so large that I will do it again next year and I will probably get three plants from it. I really enjoy them even though I have them in pots now. I am sorry about your pain I only hope they can give you some relief with the microsurgery. I am feeling kind of yucky but the fatigue is not from the thryoid. All levels were normal this time. I will be seeing a specialist for the " cysts " on the left side of the thyroid. One is a true, fluid filled cyst but the other one is complex. Part of it is fluid filled but the other part is more of a solid mass. So we will see what they have to say. I understand thought it will take me about 6 weeks to get in. Well, take care of yourself and thanks for letting me bend your ear. Terri g.

Guest guest
Terri, now that it's summer, should I wait until next spring to divide my balloon flowers? They were very late coming up, but the info I had on them said that was normal. I had to mark the spot so that I wouldn't plant something else or think they were weeds! Guest guest
My daughter bought them from one of the local stores, not sure which one. I'll send you a close-up photo. They puff out, like a little origami box, then the flowers open up. I don't know if they come in other colors, but the blue is very pretty.
