Guest guest
Hi ! Welcome...... My name is Kim . I had the DS on April 18th of this year and my starting weight was 463. I have lost 94 lbs in a little over 4 months, and working my rear end off to get to the century mark by the end of this week! :-) Having this surgery is the best thing I have ever done for myself. It took 2 years of researching before I finally came to a decision, but here I am happier than ever. My clothes are bagging off of me, I have energy I havn't had in years, and I can go to a restaurant without worrying about whether they will sit me at a booth or not. I can get up off of the floor and sit in most chairs with arms! These are just of the few of the things that have improved in my life since I started my WLS journey. I am 30 years old, married with a 7 year old daughter. My family has been very supportive, and I've had all of the wonderful people here as well. Do you have a surgeon in mind yet? Please ask away, I would be happy to help any way I can. Kim B. Dr. Anthone USC DGB/DS open 4/18/01 BMI then = 69 BMI now = 54 -94lbs and counting
Guest guest
Hi Every one...... I am a newbie to the switch I have my consult with Dr. in NC on October 24, 2001. I am scared but excited. I have done so much reading on this subject that my eyes have went crossed. I am 48 years old weigh 250 pounds and had the old gastric bypass 20 years ago that went very well. But it has stopped working and my weight has returned. When I was younger I did not care about all the pro's and cons of the surgery, that was before I had my children. Now I am concerned about all the risks. I am hopeing all of you out there will let me know your story and tell all. LOL Vicky Re: Newbie on Board!!!!!! > Hi ! Welcome...... My name is Kim . Guest guest
Subject: Newbie on Board!!!!!! Hello Everyone. My name is . I am from New Jersey. I weigh 422lbs, Hi ya ! Glad you found us. I was at 388 when I had my first consult with Dr. Anthone in CA. I am still waiting for a date for the actual DS, but Dr. A seems to be fond of doing a panniculectomy on those of us with high body mass indexes ( there are calculators out there on various WLS sites) At 5'2 " , mine was 71. which qualifies as your basic super morbidly obese person. BMI's over 60 have more complications after surgery. So, anyway, the panni is your basic tummy tuck, but on us large folk, it is a removal of the abdominal fat that hangs down over the legs and often impedes mobility. I had a relatively small one, only 20 pounds-- so I am now down to 368. I am trying to loose some additional poundage by your conventional diet means-- anything to improve the chances during surgery of making it out okay! I think there is a group of over 400 folks somewhere on Yahoo, I expect someone has the addy for you. There are lots of folks over 400 who have made it thru and are doing really well. I wish I was one of them already! So welcome! and ask any questions you want, someone will pipe up! Nan E ( waiting in CA for date) ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! Join Juno today!
