Guest guest
Hi Deb! I went to cedars and Dr Kahlili was my surgeon too. I went on March 15 Re: protein drinks i too hated protein drinks right after my surgery (open RNY 3/5/04) i couldn't get it down at all... it literally made me ill. but i got some WHEY TECH last week at The Vitamin Store (they also have an online store) - it's their own brand... i got the vanilla and i've had it every morning. i love it because it's not too sweet and has NO SUGAR and best of all it's 17 grams of protein per scoop and it goes up to 25 grams of protein when you mix it with a cup of nonfat milk. you don't have to put it in the blender - it actually mixes with a spoon... but i've been putting it in a shaker cup with the milk and then i shake it up and add some ice cubes. i take it to work and drink it all morning. you can mix it with water also... it's good both ways... i prefer it with the nonfat milk and then i also add a little water (i really don't like sweet stuff since my surgery). this stuff has really saved my life. i'm going back to The Vitamin Store tomorrow and get some more... i might even try another flavor. deb open RNY L.A. Guest guest
I live in Santa Barbara, so a bit of a drive for me too. Yes, i see Dr Furman. I think I need to go for a 3 month check up at the end of June. was it supposed to be 3 month after the first check-up or 3 months after the surgery? Also, did they give you a goal weight? i dont remember getting one. One thing I remember about Cedars- which of course is a Jewish hospital, so food would be kosher- the broths that they gave us beef and chicken were *very* good. Id like to hear your story about Dr. Furman when you have a chance. there's also a woman where i work who went in on the 8th. fter the surgery at about 2pm ( surgery was early morning) Dr Kahlili came in and said hello, I said " oh I havent met you " and he smiled and said " yes you did, but you werent remembering much " the anesthesiolgist said he introduces himself to everyone before surgery I guess I was a little under already! My parents chuckled because they had met him before surgery too- he makes a point of going out to the waiting room and telling the folks that are waiting for you what will happen. cool. Re: cedars Hey ! how cool... i'm 10 days older than you... well my bypass is anyway! where in calif are you? i'm in south riverside county... temecula/murrieta area - it's one heck of a drive for my office visits! have you been seeing dr. furman for your checkups? i don't think kahlili does the checkups... i have only been seeing furman... he's my hero - i'll tell you why in a later post. deb > > I drink the Designer Whey protein shakes in chocolate flavor.
