I think it is all to easy to go back to bad habits. Sweets make a lot of

people sick but they don't make me sick either. I buy myself sugar free

candies. Russle Stover's makes some really good products. When I get a

craving I have one or two pieces of sugar free candy. I just try my best to

stay away from the bad stuff. I still will have a taste of something

occasionally and I think that is okay. I think of it this way, for me this

surgery was my last hope so I am not going to do anything to mess it up.

Just keep telling yourself everytime you want to eat bad stuff, what your

goal is and " just say no to bad food " . I hope this helps.

can I still eat sweet stuff and loose

weight?

Hello- i had gastric by pass surgery just 6 weeks ago and have lost

30 lbs. . Now that i can eat more things- I find myself going back to

my old habits and eating sweets again. (not as much though)Any

suggestions or just plain out old " help " would be so appreciated!

,

I am 105 days post op from an RNY. I've lost over 82 pounds and have

at least that much more to go.

I have a big sweet tooth, but, there is no way that I want to go down

that road again. I just put myself through major surgery to correct

my obesity. I have followed the physician's advice and would consider

myself fortunate to have had little problems with eating most

anything. Yes, I have tasted cake, ice cream, & chocolate after

surgery, but I cannot and will not let myself start up on the sugar

train. I guess I know myself to well that if I would start eating

sugars, its hard telling how or when I would stop. Besides that, I do

have minor dumping with refined sugar foods.

Protein, water, fruits and veggies are my staples. For a treat I'll

have a Ritz with peanut butter or popcorn. Actually, a cold navel

orange or banana usually takes care of any sugar lusts.

For being six weeks out, I would strongly encourage you to stick to

the physician's/dietitian's plan and get that will power set to about

a 10 when it comes to the useless calories that sugars supply.

My 2 cents.

My suggestion is for you to take advantage of the honeymoon period and lose as

much excess weight as possible. Also exercise daily, stay away from sugar, and

get in your water, vitamins and protein. Good luck! :)

i used to LOVE candy and all sweets... since my RNY 2 months ago i

don't crave sweets. the rare times that i do i just have a few

bites of a REALLY GOOD protein bar - they have to be the low carb

bars because they don't have sugar (or really low sugar - 2 grams or

less for the whole bar). this way i get protein in me and soothe the

craving for sweets.

experiment with the bars... some of them are terrible, some are

soooo good! slimfast " success " cookies and cream low carb bar is

really good! i also like " glow bars " .
