My husband at the time traveled about 16 work days a month so we were alone quite a bit. I was terrified I'd pass out and fall especially on those steps. My older son was 5 years old at the time. I taught him how to dial 9-1-1 on the phone (I'd pick up the phone, but hold the button down so it wouldn't actually call) and we would go over various scenarios as to " when " to dial 9-1-1 and what to say and we'd practice. I just made like a game of it - but never panicky-like because I didn't want to frighten him.
