Guest guest
Sending thoughts and good wishes your way for your upcoming surgery. A friend of mine just had something very similar done with having the mesh taken out. It was a whore of a surgery and they ended up doing the tummy tuck at the same time, but left the hernia open. There're going to wait two months for healing and then try closing it with muscle, skin and mesh. Said there was absolutely no fascia left to work with on her. She started out like yourself, infections, not feeling well and all kinds of problems. She has never been compliant in regards to food intake and supplements. She is doing well, but has a long road ahead of her too. Just wanted you to know that you weren't alone out there. Whether that's a comfort to you or not, I'm not sure. If she made it through, you will come through it too. She had her original wls in 2000, and had a HUGE hernia repair done in 2002. Hope this helps you. Holding good thoughts for you my friend. Guest guest
Dear Friends, I owe you all such a big apology for taking so long to post. I appreciate all your kind posts? As you will soon see, I will be busy. This Monday, July 28, I will have my last major surgery will be on July 28th. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 AM. This surgery will last approximately 8 to 10 hours - unless there are complications. They plan to first remove all the mesh, whether, infected or not. Since it keeps getting infected, they figure there is no point in leaving any of it in and risk another round of infections. Once they get all the mesh out, they will hand sew all the hernia areas. Then they will repair my gastric bypass by lowering the " Y " bottom loop of the bypass. This will increase the amount of intestines bypassed and decrease the amount of food I can absorb. This should significantly increase my weight loss over the next few months. They hope I will lose another 200 lbs this year. Finally they will try to close me, hopefully keeping me closed this time. There is a possibility they won't be able to close me. If there isn't enough skin left to close me without causing a new hernia, they will use tension stitches to slowly pull me back together. That could take several weeks but in the end I will be closed without another big hernia. I wish you all could have seen all the tests they ran me through. I have had IV's, QV scans, scopes, and so forth. So please keep me in prayers. The surgeons will be Dr and he will be assisted by Dr Skorsky. They are both certified bariatric surgeons and very competent as they trained under Dr Moody who did my OPEN-RNY. Dr Moody will be there as a consultant. He has done well over a thousand of these procedures without losing a patient. Even with all the complications I had after the two nurses dropped me, Dr Moody wouldn't let me go. I was in a coma for three days and at 75 years old he stayed right there all day and night looking for the right combination of medicines and stimulations to awaken me. I just thank all those people who fought to save my life. I need your prayers for a speedy recovery. There is another matter I need you to pray about and to discuss with you. For the last 14 plus months I have been unable to work due to complications from the surgery. All benefits have expired and I have exhausted my savings. Friends have helped where they could but I desperately need help. The next critical date I face is August 2. If I don't make my $329 truck payment to Southtrust Bank, my handicapped equipped 2001 Chevy Silverado pickup could be repossessed. I can't imagine what I would do if it were repossessed as I would have no transportation. Is there any way you can join with others and help me? It may take a while but within a couple of months of getting out of the hospital, I will repay whatever anyone loans me. The easiest way anyone can help is to send a wire transfer. All you have to do is call or go to your bank and tell them you want to wire transfer from your bank to mine. My bank is Southwest Bank of Texas and the routing number is 113011258. The account number is 5920698. If you would feel more comfortable and want a tax deduction, you could send a check or money to my pastor and they will pass it on to me. Pastor Jim Black Alliance Bible Church 302 W Cedar Bayou Lynchburgh Baytown, TX 77521-9052 Phone: Be sure on the check in the purpose space it says " benevolent funds to help Davenport. " The last option is to just send me a get well card and include a small check. You can send get well cards, flowers or whatever to the hospital after 4:00 PM Monday. Surely I will be out of surgery by then. The address there will be: Davenport c/o Memorial Herman Hospital 6411 Fannin Street Houston, TX I don't know what room I will be in at Hermann but you can call the main switchboard who will connect you. The main number is . I hope you know I would never ask for help if I didn't desperately need it. I have $900 due on the house right now. If I miss this $412.46 truck payment to SouthTrust Bank, I will lose the truck. I owe $310 to Reliant Energy and the pink disconnection notice gives me till Friday. I owe Amica Insurance $255.06 and that is past due. I owe the City of Baytown $38.58 for water, sewer and garbage. I also owe Aspire Visa $56, Capital One $126, Verizon $273.65, Time-Warner $199.86, Shell $20, Citgo $14.09, Mobile-Exxon $112, Discover $92.20 and Southwest Bank of Texas $496.13. Part of the reason for this financial mess is that a friend loaned me funds and then the check didn't clear. Unfortunately in the meantime I had written checks to pay my bills. The bank honored the first $500 but now I am really messed up. Now my prayer is that the Lord will have really blessed some one or everyone will try and help by chip in $40 or $50 one time to help friend in need. I have work waiting for me as soon as I can get this abdomen closed and get back on my feet. Please pray for that also. While I wouldn't ask if I weren't desperate, at the same time I understand some people may not be able to help me. Just know that I genuinely appreciate you and that I sincerely apologize if my request creates any hardship for you. I promise you, whether you say yes or no, it will not harm out friendship. This temporary hardship is not nearly strong enough to harm our friendship. I am embarrassed to even ask for help and hope I've not embarrassed you. Please keep me in prayer. I don't know what room I will be in but you can reach me though Hermann's main switchboard at . The hospital address is: Memorial Hermann Hospital 6411 Fannin Street Houston, Texas 77030 The hospital website is http://www.memorialhermann.org/locations/HE.html in case you'd like to know a little about the hospital. I will close for now and update you as soon often as possible. Please someone check with the hospital and keep everyone posted on how I am doing, I love and appreciate you all so much.
