Guest guest
Hi Cammie Thanx for posting me I am at 2 weeks post-op and I am still having burning throbbing intense pain in my chin area all day long, since he unbanded me last thurs...I'm wondering if i am jumping the gun a bit as I did get a bit of a shit kickin 2 weeks ago tonight...I just hate to be a pain in the butt......I am going to phone in the morning if I wake up in pain....I,m wondering if I just have too much freedom with my jaw a little to soon ?...He left the surgical hooks in just in case ,and mabey this is ,the " just in case " ......... I am one that did not have ortho before surgery ,.....although my surgery is the end result of a 27 month dental night-mare(40 dental related Appts In just over 2 years)...instead of braces and having my face re-arranged my dentist came up with a treatment plan which would include crowning 12 front teeth , changing the angle of my new crowns to compensate for my off-bite, creating a " end to end " bite ...my mouth has been in chaos for 27 months as a result of my new front crowns crashing down on each other, my teeth have been damaged as a result resulting in multiple root canals....My mouth was in total turmoil....after I heal up from the surgery (which I should have had right from the get go)....I will have to have all my dental work redone ,...this time by a specialist ,...THANK GOD !!!!... Cammie when they did band you did they allow you to take them on and off by yourself for cleaning/eating etc.??? ,......thinkin maybe thats maybe where I should be at? Guest guest
Yes. He let me take them off to clean and eat. That it's burning sensation suggests to my lay mind that some of the pain may be nerves, rather than the jaw. I do hope you get the instant relief that I did, though. And it definitely is possible to overdo things and have to pay for them. Sounds to me like the guy who put you through all that crowning was, um, at best misguided... It's true that often when we try to the immediate bite-the-bullet fixes, we wind up in worse trouble long- term, though.
