Jane- I feel the same way... like my teeth are just rotting away in

tarter inside my mouth. My doctor also said it usually is not a

problem, but it was mentioned on the waiver I had to sign... " you will

be unable to properly clean your teeth and may encounter cavities,

increased plaque... blah, blah blah.. " I have chosen not to think

about it and make myself nuts. I did however, already book an

appointment for a cleaning after they are off.

Tova,

That's a good idea. Maybe that will make me feel better.

Hi Tova

I totally know what you mean, the whole idea of not being able to

clean my teeth for 6.5 weeks really grossed me out!!!!! And poor

you, you can't get in there at all! I at least just had the splint

and some elastics, so I only couldn't do the back of my front teeth.

But ya, when I got my splint out last week, I brushed my teeth for

the first time at the OS office. I was using a really really soft

toothbrush, but my gums still bled everywhere...It wasn't pretty! I

was so determined to floss that night, it took me FOREVER, because I

could only open my mouth about 2.5 cm hehe. I still want to go to

the dentist to get my teeth cleaned, but my OS told me I couldn't go

until at least 10 weeks post op (I'm 7 weeks right now). My teeth

are stained a little from the mouthwash they gave me after the

surgery, so I really want to get rid of that! You're lucky your

teeth are going to be all shiny and clean soon :)

Thats one reason to avoid things like ensure or slimfast, if you do

you use them, I used ensure as snacks they arn't really

replacments...make sure you can wash your teeth---rinse with water

and scope. I just used my sryringe to get water in there and also

used one of those mouth washes and rinsed as best as I could in the

AM and PM and after everytime I ate. also using hydrogen peroxide

with water can help a lot.
