Guest guest
thanks for finding that, looks like i'll have to find some bones! What do you do? Just boil the bones then drink the stock?-UC - 1+ yearsSCD - 7 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 5 pills a dayTo: BTVC-SCD From: luckycharms@...Date: Wed, 10 Feb 2010 18:33:20 -0500Subject: Gelatin vs Bone Broth Sorry ! Judging from this website it doesn't look like the powdered gelatin is exactly up to par =(http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0ISW/is_259-260/ai_n10299306/pg_2/" Most commercial gelatin today is extracted from animal skin, another connective tissue which contains collagen. (17,18) Gelatin is what most people think of as the main ingredient in broth. Bone broth differs from gelatin in that it also contains minerals and GAGS. Traditionally made stock uses bone and cartilage and produces a higher quality result. It also produces a safer result considering that commercial gelatin contains small amounts of monosodium glutamate (MSG)." Guest guest
That was a great read. I didn't know about putting vinegar in the water when making the soup. I just cooked an 18 pound turkey. Tomorrow I'll pull off all the meat and freeze a lot of it in quart size bags. Then I'll take the carcas and boil that for hours. It make THE best broth. I freeze the broth in old glass juice jars (my husband thinks I'm goofy for saving all my jars. Now if this would just lube my insides. One can only hope. Happy cooking >good advice here: > >http://www.westonaprice.org/Broth-is-Beautiful.html > >PJ > > >> >> >> thanks for finding that, looks like i'll have to find some bones! >> >> What do you do? Guest guest
Try to get pastured/organic bones. I've heard that " regular " bones can have lead and junk in them.
