Hi Sharon.

My son's been on it for 7 months now. I think it works. I think when he's

had infractions like lately (we were on vacation last week) that his

behavior gets noticeably worse. And theres no denying he's making

tremendous progress. Of course this doesn't prove the diet's responsible,

but I still like the idea of it.

I think if you stick out a couple of months to a year you'll probably see

changes over time. And if and when your son gets something not on the diet

after being on it a few months it should be pretty obvious that his

behavior changes for the worse.

We all know how tough it is. I went to the monthly support group at my

son's ABA preschool last night (my wife and I alternate meetings) and saw

everyone of us holding back tears. My heart goes out to you, and in my

experience we are among a great group of people. My feeling is that the

diet can do no harm and possibly much good. I'm not ready to start giving

my kid drugs or any other type of therapy I consider highly invasive.

Best of luck to you and your family.

For peanut butter, we just get the stuff that says it's made of peanuts...

sometimes they add salt too.

Sharon,

Try to think in terms of months or even years on the diet instead of

days. This will give you proper scale. Remember that your child may be on

this diet for life. We have been using the diet for a year now. His ATEC's

are steadily coming down. Of course, we're using other interventions as

well. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
