Guest guest
June, My twins are on the GFCF diet and the Feingold as well. We started GFCF about 15 months ago and then started Feingold 5 months ago. Each diet has helped each of my children differently in many ways. I couldn't make a decision of which is most important if I had to, they are both vital, especially to my more severe son. Another thing that we've recently done that has done more to help than anything is the addition of enzymes at every meal -IN ADDITION TO both diets. They are helping digest their already pureed foods, and helping to heal their evidently severely leaky gut. Once you get the hang of both of them, it's really just a matter of cross checking. We buy very little pre-made stuff like cereals, mixes, etc. I just find it easier to do things from scratch. Time consuming, but worth not having my son band his head into in crib for hours on end. Trying won't hurt, I never expected such dramatic results. Donna in Kingwood, TX
Guest guest
I don't know how helpful this will be. My son has been gfcf for over 20 months. He also can have NO foods which are high in phenols. This is not the Feingold program, but it is similar. Here is my phenol information. http://home.pacbell.net/cscomp/phenol.htm My son does not get aggressive, but he does get hyper and laughs all day/night. This happens even if he gets just one bite of a food on my high-phenol list. So I would recommend to you, that if your son is like mine, that you remove or seriously reduce the high-phenol foods, or do both gfcf and Feingold together, and see if it helps your son.
