Guest guest
<<Carbonyl Iron, Polysaccharide Iron . . . Best. Least constipating. I take 2 150 mg. caps of Polysacc everyday, and have no problems with constipation, or tarry poop, or any of the other side effects of iron supps.>> , Are these by prescription only or can they be bought OTC? If so where can I find it. I just found out today that my iron is at the low end of normal and I want to head it off at the pass before it gets too low. TIA! Guest guest
I heeded what Rachael said and went to buy the polysaccharide Iron. I didn't see it with the vitamins, so I asked the pharmacist who said that they were otc, but were expensive...about $30 for 100 tabs. He suggested that I get my doctor to write a script so that I can use my copay and not spend so much. Cindy Mother of Many ~Pam~ wrote: ><<Carbonyl Iron, Polysaccharide Iron . . . Best. Guest guest
<<Following gastric bypass your doctor should be putting you on a medication such as Trinsicon which is Iron and B 12.>> My surgeon prescribes ferrous sulfate *rolleyes* and I refuse to take it. I'm so glad I know it's the wrong kind to take. I'm going to give the Polysacc a try. I will watch my labs to make sure I'm staying within normal ranges. My 3 month labs were in the normal range but on the low end so I've got to do something before they fall too low. I know I'm definitely not taking too much as I only take my current ferrous fumarate once a week to avoid constipation.
