Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I have been told that my braces will separate my currently straight even teeth (although very short teeth - ugh!) and I was shown that about an eighth inch gap between my teeth was the goal of the braces prior to surgery! I have never had braces, and you can't tell there is anything seriously wrong with my mouth just by meeting me, although there is. But most of the posts I have seen describe bracing that at least is approximating your end goal, so is improving your appearance in the process. My braces will be making me look awful and then more awful for the next 2-3 years. I will end up before and even after surgery with teeth that look like a 5 year old drew them in! At least brushing and flossing will be easy with large gaps between each and every tooth in my mouth. Has anyone else been through this particular process? I have seen posts about different types of braces, but I am actually thinking I may want white ones just to look like I have less space between my teeth. After surgery and recovery, they will be putting crowns on each and every tooth in my mouth to make them long enough for a reasonable bite, and this is why there has to be the space between them - that and to expand my bite so my tongue can move between the arch. Surgery will lengthen the upper and move the lower down and advanced. Septoplasty will put the septum in proper alignment too and hopefully will alieviate some of my allergy symptoms that I have had all my life. I appreciate any imput from you vets out there, and especially if you have had something similar to this. Thanks Fran
