Guest guest
I assume you mean like Social Security Disability? s. California and Disability Hi everyone. I was talking to someone who asked me if there was disability coverage for a baby with CF. I told her that, of course, my insurance covered all medical bills. But she explained that I should investigate whether the state of California has disability coverage for the caregiver (me) (in addition to regular disability coverage for maternity leave) while I'm caring for a child with CF. I'm sorry this sounds confusing, but does anyone know what I mean? Janice Boy edd 03.11.
Guest guest
I called and asked her again to explain... She says that there should be some kind of disability coverage for the baby (whether it be social security or state of california disability insurance, that I pay into) that should cover the cost of a caregiver for the disabled child. That " disabled " part made me cringe. I think she's looking at the baby as being competely disabled, but he isn't, or won't be. I don't think that since the treatment is done while I'm on maternity leave, I would take any more time off than only what is needed for doctors appointments. > > I assume you mean like Social Security Disability? > s. > > California and Disability > > > Hi everyone. > > I was talking to someone who asked me if there was disability coverage > for a baby with CF. Guest guest
Well....the whole " Disability " subject has a lot of gray areas and sore spots. Myself I think it's more or less robbing the system to claim disability money for an infant who will not be disabled in a matter of months - and as for caring for that infant, well, you'd be caring for him the same regardless of the treatment. Help with medical bills is one thing, drawing a check just for the sake of a baby with a temporary disability is another. s.
