Guest guest
Best suggestion is to research more. Read some back posts here, check out the links, also see the geocities info site at http://www.geocities.com/orthognathicinfo/ There are risks with any surgery, some specific risks with this type of surgery, but you should be informed about these by your surgeon. Sometimes parents are not supportive because they don't understand what it's like to live with a dysfunctional mouth. My own mother felt a bit guilty that I had to go through with this, that she'd passed something along in the genes. But my parents were supportive all the same (I'm in my late 40s, so it's not like they had much influence!) I made the decision to have surgery because there appeared to be a lot wrong with my jaws (I never knew it, but my ortho and surgeon told me), the benefits appeared to outweigh the risks involved, and I wanted to do this to prevent further deterioration of my jaw joints. Hope that helps, > > Hi guys,my right jaw was abit unbalance with the left jaw,I am a > Singaporean,I was hesistated wheather should i go for operation. My > parent was pretty against it.My heart was so hurt and confused.I was > afraid of side effects and what if my operation fail. What happen if > after operation,it become more worse than i used to. Guest guest
It is possible not to have the outcome you want, of course. Most people, though, are pleased with the results. It is not unusual for parents to oppose these procedures. Sometimes they feel guilty that their child has to go through whatever, or that they have somehow caused it. Sometimes they just believe that their child is perfect, and cannot see a problem. There are also side effects that are possible -- numbness, in particular. You just have to weigh the risks and benefits for yourself,a nd decide whether the surgery is worth doing. That's not an easy answer, but it's the most honest one I know. Best wishes to you, C. > > Hi guys,my right jaw was abit unbalance with the left jaw,I am a > Singaporean,I was hesistated wheather should i go for operation. My > parent was pretty against it.My heart was so hurt and confused.I was > afraid of side effects and what if my operation fail. What happen if > after operation,it become more worse than i used to.
