Guest guest
Marjie - Even though the ultrasound may show NORMAL, have her ask the Dr. to do a HIDA scan. I had multiple ultrasounds which showed normal as did my blood work, but the HIDA scan is a type of xray which injects you with a contrast and this in turn shows the rate to which your gallbladder works. Mine showed a slowing in the rate in which it absorbed the contrast and the rate in which is released it. I also, unfortunately, imitated the pain, but that was enough to justify the gallbladder removal, which cured my pain immediately. I hope this information helps. Tina Fat Intolerance & Pain OK my group of experts... All of a sudden one of my post op friends is sufferring with terrible pain and intolerance of fat. She is about 2 years out of a lap RNY - proximal... Gall Bladder ultrasound is NORMAL! Any thoughts??? Guest guest
When I had my gallbladder removed, the HIDA scan came back normal and my blood work was normal and the sonogram showed one big stone. Doc refused to believe that all this was not being caused by the gallbladder and sent me to a surgeon. The surgeon said that sometimes these things happen and scheduled me for two weeks later. The night before the surgery I had a 12 hour gallbladder attack where I was praying for a coma. When I finally had the surgery, the surgeon told me that he hadn't seen a gallbladder that " angry " in years. Said it was terribly inflammed and had I waited any longer, there would have been a major problem. To the day I had it out, all the tests were normal. Make sure you have a doctor that listens to you. Thank God mine did. There is also a type of MRI that you can have done called an MRCP that just images the biliary tract/common bile duct area, you may have some luck with that. Could possibly have a stone stuck in the common bile duct. Regina

I told her > I just like to leave a little bit of me where ever I go. <grin> >

Guest guest
Something I need to do as I am trying to get reconstructive surgery. The Doc at the University of WA that I have been referred to is HARD to get through to. I have left three messages. Only one has been returned. I think if I ever actually get to see him, I will come armed with my history all typed up nice and neat.
