Guest guest
If the Puritan's Pride zinc supplement is a true amino acid chelate, then it should be just fine. The problem is that many manufacturers say their product is chelated because in chelation different molecules are combined. However, the molecules have to be combined in a particular way to make an easy to absorb amino acid chelate product. See http://www.albionlabs.com/Human/Newsletter/1994July.html If the supplement is not an amino acid chelate, then the word " chelated " is just being used as advertising hype. And could you please not include the entire digest when you reply to a message? Your email was 44KB long. We would appreciate this effort. My zinc level dropped from 775 on 8/6/02 (when I was not taking zinc supplements) to 71. I take 50 mg chelated zinc (puritan's pride). Am I not taking enough or could something in my diet/lifestyle have produced this drastic change om 8 months. All my other labs seem to be holding steady with the exception of Vitamin A which jumped from 90 to 146. (normal 30-90). Folate serum is 20 and calcium has remained steady at 9.6. Protein total went from 7.3 on 1/10/02 to 7.4 on 8/6 and 7.2 on 3/9/03. I've stopped taking the Vitamin A & D supplement because of the high level of vitamin A, but my Vitamin D went from a scarey 5.9 in January 2002 to 46 on 8/6/02 and 30 on March 3. I take Vitalady's Calcium with D and Magnesium. Will that be enough D for me to keep me healthy? Shortly after my D went to 5.9 I developed kidney stones. I passed the last one in February of this year. No problems since.
