Guest guest
Well I just got approved for my bypass surgery . No date set yet. But at least I am relieved to know it is going to happened.. So I have been doing lots of searching for a forum such as this.. I looked at the photo's.. you all have done such great jobs with losing weight. I hope to someday add my picture. I am 39 yrs old, 5'1 and about 290 lbs. When I hit 39 I decided it was time to make a big change in my life. after fighting my weight for about 30 yrs. I feel this surgery is a way of shutting down and rebooting myself. But also now that it is going to happen, I feel a little fear sinking in... But I am sure I will over come it. One thing I am wondering.. any suggestions on what to take when I check in to the hospital? (anything to make my stay better) And also, I worry about loose skin as I lose weight.. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of it.. besides another surgery? Thanks Vicki
Guest guest
Hi Vicki, I have some tips for you. Bring chapstick.. or lip gloss something that smells really good. I was so glad I did because you can't drink usually until the next day. My lips were very very dry. The swabs they give you for your mouth will help some. Just stay strong. What's one day of blah in the grand scheme of things? Also, my feet got quite cold. Warm socks or slippers might be a good thing to have with. My last tip on things to bring would be some shampoo and conditioner. They let me shower ( I had Laparoscopic RNY) before I went home and there was only that funky hospital soap. Loose skin will tighten up somewhat with lots of exercise and water. I also use Nivea Skin Firming lotion. It smells good and seems to maybe help. That or my imagination is just really good. I'm not too sure which. Best of luck on your upcoming surgery. Vandever LAP RNY 4-6-04 305-241-165 Hi! I just got approved! > Well I just got approved for my bypass surgery .
