Has any one had a maxillary mandibular advancement for the purpose of

curing Sleep Apnea? I have an open bite (eight more months of

braces); have had surgery on my nose for better breathing and an

endless struggle with my cpap. My teeth will be straight and

actually touch for the first time in 40 years, but I can't live with

cpap and cannot live without it. My research shows close to a 95%

cure rate.

Who has gotten relief?

Hi Francis,

I'm new to the list and just had mma surgery on Jan. 10th to

address my sleep apnea and it seems to have helped with the apnea. I

haven't used my bipap machine since the surgery, and I " feel " like

I'm getting better sleep (not wrestling with the headgear all night

or feeling like I'm suffocating), and my wife is telling me that I

am not gasping for breath or stopping breathing at night.

I also feel like I have a bit more energy, but not as much as I had

hoped. I'm scheduled for a follow up sleep study in a couple of

months, and I will know more then.

Right now I'm pretty sure the apnea has either been elimnated, or

significantly reduced. Will know for sure after the sleep study of

course.
