Guest guest
Hello and Welcome, I was dx'ed with Charcot in May and have been in an aircast since so I know exactly what you mean about the exercise thing. My proximal RNY was 12/00, started at 264, lost a little over 100 but I have had about a 7 to 8 pound regain with the darn Charcot. My movements are not quite as restricted as yours but I am to stay off the foot as much as possible and absolutely no weight bearing without the cast. No weight lifting of any kind unless it's sitting on my behind on lying on my back, no stationary bike, no treadmill, etc. I use the motorized shopping carts at the store in order to shop. I am however, allowed to use the pool since the buoyancy of the water keeps the weight off the foot. It is tough to not eat when that's about all you can do so I sympathize completely with you. I have adult onset diabetes and it was not " cured " by the gastric bypass. I was able to stop the insulin but had to increase the oral meds. So not only are we fighting the weight but also hard to control the blood sugars without some exercise. Are you on meds for the depression or just fighting it on your own? Guest guest
Welcome Annie..........Boy.....you have certainly had your share these last few years!! My heart really goes out to you. While I was reading your post I was reminded of a program that we had on our public station (in Pittsburgh, PA).....it was called " Sit and Be Fit. " I was thinking that maybe starting REAL small with some 1 or 3 pound hand weights while doing some upper body lifting might really be a key for you. I think it would really help with the depression and diabetes also. If you need any help getting started I would be happy to try and help you as much as I can. I am not an expert, but have been working out for years. Hang in there.......we are all pulling for you P. what a great group > Hello everyone...My name is Annie. I had a RNY in October 1998.
