Guest guest
Hi Bethanne, Thanks for sharing your story. It is nice to hear of other people miserable too. :-) This day continues to suck but I know it will get better. I did buy the chocolate Boost this morning and although I don't love it... It's tolerable. I guess I should count my blessings... I have no kids to take care of and -thank god- had absolutely no numbness. I do however, have my own handbag business and by some random coincidence, today I met and had a great opportunity to speak with two Very Important people at a very important national Fashion Magazine. (Important as far as my business & this industry is concerned, not as a personal statement) All I could do was mumble " I make bags " ... it was terrible... I would usually give my left arm for an opportunity to meet with those people and now... well... But... things will get better! > > Hi, > Let me tell you right up front---my experience was miserable! Guest guest
Also, By the end, I loved the nesquick strawberry milkshake that comes premade, it was very smooth, and the tropicana smoothies.... I lived on those for the last 2 weeks. good luck with your business!! > > > > > Hi, > > Let me tell you right up front---my experience was miserable! Guest guest
I just had lower... and he just moved it forward 5.5mm. I guess once they cut that bone- it's all the same. Thank goodness I did not have both... If I could not blow my nose for two weeks, I would have gone nuts! God Bless all of you people that have multiple procedures done! I do think it will heal just fine... it better! :-) > > Hi Tova > > > Did you have upper and lower?? I hope your healing > gets better. Guest guest
Hi Katja- Thanks for the vote of support... I'm not really dwelling on it too much.... after a while even I get tired of the sound of my mumbling... I guess once I started to write though it all just came flooding out! I'm glad you can relate to the comment about my boyfriend... I hesitated before writing it because I didn't want him to sound bad but he isn't and I figured, I can't be the only one! And he ALSO has an absolutely PERFECT set of teeth. When he puts his teeth together in a bite and stretches his lips open to show the teeth, I swear he looks like the perfect plastic tooth mold sitting on your orthodontists table.... Or, like the teeth part of the skeleton in a biology class. Seriously perfect... And, he never had braces OR even a single cavity! He (and your boyfriend too perhaps) is like a freak of nature.... I'm thinking if I marry him, at least my kids will have a CHANCE not to get my terrible dental genes... Even if they end up somewhere in the middle, it would not be too bad. I think I mentioned in an earlier post that I started thinking about the braces on my first (blind) date with him almost 4 years ago... I sat across the table from him and as he was talking, all I could think was " Oh my god, this man has such beautiful teeth " I got the braces about a year and a half into our relationship (it took a bit of soul searching for me to make sure I was doing it for me- despite the fact that he supported me either way- his perfect teeth made me feel like maybe, subconciously I was doing it for him) and I have been wearing them for almost 2.5 years. I'm pretty much sick of them and now with my slightly new face (I look a little more sophisticated with my new chin... as opposed to before when I I looked " cute " ) I am sooo eager to see the end result of this entire nightmare. Just so ya know... I had garlic mashed potatoes for dinner.. I've brushed my accessible teeth and gargled mouthwash 4 times and can still taste the garlic on my tongue. No-one is going to want to come anywhere near me tomorrow. Thanks for the support... I'll post some more updated pics in the near future! Guest guest
Hi Tova! Oh my goodness! You don't know how much of your post I could have written myself. I know exactly what you mean about future kids with these guys hopefully having half a decent chance to not suffer what " mommy " did. Both of our boyfriends could be dental models, apparently. Honestly mine should have his bite/teeth bronzed or something It's not right that nature made them come in SO perfectly! And then I, next to him, create this great " contrast " . ha ha. And, I know what you mean... I'm still in the " cute " phase. There is no way to look sophisticated when one's chin is hiding next to one's neck, among other skewed things.... I had already started investigating braces (2nd time around to finish what the first ortho gladly took the money to do, but didn't get done) and of course the surgery. I did not relish the task of telling my very new found love that I will soon be in braces for 1 1/2 to 2 years, including surgery along the way. Fortunately, we were already very attached to eachother and he was very supportive of my going ahead with the braces/surgery or not. So, to compare notes... what surgery did you just have? For what fun malocclusion afflicting you? I will look for your pictures. I'm having surgery in 3 weeks. I'll keep you posted. Katja Ps, My salute to garlic mashed potatoes. > > > > > Hi Tova, > > I was so sorry to hear that things have been so rough for you since > > surgery. Guest guest
Oh wow!! My room mate does the " inspecting my teeth " thing so much to me! I know she's just curious, but, I'm not really keen on having my teeth scrutinized for 5 mins everytime I see her. Haha well, glad to know I'm not the only one being inspected all the time. - > > Hi Tova, > I was so sorry to hear that things have been so rough for you since > surgery. Guest guest
Hiya! I just had a small overbite. They moved my lower jaw forward 5.5mm... The braces were also my second time around... first guy was an idiot- did more damage than repair. I had 1 tooth (an incisor, i think it's called) that was completely twisted around... the back facing almost front. It had been bonded too look OK but the bonding was starting to crack and the situation was just " wrong " ... ya know? I also still have a baby tooth because when the adult tooth that was supposed to replace it came through, it was in the wrong place so the ortho told my folks to pull it out. I guess he was too lazy to deal with it properly and my parents were too busy to get a second opinion. heart-warming, isn't it? The braces did a lot of the work the second time around and the surgery was the option I chose to take to fix the rest as properly and completely as possible. Sometimes I think I may have gone overboard and like I could have lived without the surgery but as long as it all ends up OK- I think I will be glad I did it. I also had mild sleep apnea and occasional headaches from my misalignment... My dad has severe sleep apnea and a severe overbite -when he was a kid, they pulled out a bunch of his healthy upper teeth to pull his top teeth back- now he just has an overbite and huge gaps between his teeth... it was when I realized I was smiling like my dad- covering my teeth with my lower lip- that I realized I could stop the vicious cycle.... now I am just keeping my fingers crossed and my teeth together! Good Luck with your surgery- keep us posted! Tova > > Oh my goodness! You don't know how much of your post I could have > written myself. Guest guest
Thanks Fran! I'm glad I could make you laugh! Sometimes as I write I do feel like maybe I am going on and on and on but... well... I do hope that someone will be entertained and maybe even prepped a bit by my experience!
