Guest guest
Hi Katja-- I remember around day 4 or 5 thinking " i didn't think it would be this bad " and then by day 7 thinking, " wow that was easier than I thought! Swelling = super annoying. most poeple don't bruise; my surgeon told me that he hadn't anticpated bruising and that i oughta get that checked out by my doc when i get up and running. i'm telling you, the sympathetic looks i get from people who see my two black eyes--i want to tel lthem " if you knew me, you would know that no one could get more than one punch in " I had lower, genio and lipoplasty. just had another outing--grocery store and borders. exciting, eh? not as exciting as washing the car. i'm supposed to appear in court on thursday on behalf of one of my clients at the legal clinic where i work. if i successfully argue a motion (the FIRST TIME i appear in court, nevertheless) on day 14, does that score me any points in the healing competition?? let me know. or maybe Bob is the authority on the healing competition... i too feel like my face is overinflated. it's like somebody inflated water balloons in my face. right now i've got numbness and the like in the " goatee " area--all the swelling seems to be in the lower third of my face. can't wait for the numbness to go away, though my friend suggested that i could hammer nails into my chin as a party trick. i'll think about that if this whole " law school " thing doesn't work out for me take care... pamela > > Hi Pamela, > Thank you for asking.... Guest guest
Ewwww. No hammered nails into the chin. But might you get some sympathy votes from the jury when you present/argue your case? Good wishes for you. C. > > > > Hi Pamela, > > Thank you for asking.... I don't think I'm at that break through time > > yet where I feel tons better. Guest guest
Katja-- It's still SO EARLY, don't get discouraged. i remember thinking the first 6 or 7 days, " i didn't think it would be this bad " but right now, i don't really even remember the first four days or so after surgery. you'll feel so much better, so soon!! Green-ness is perfect with St. Paddy's day coming up--make sure you leave the house; this is your opportunity for people to think that you're just very spirited and into the March holidays! Make sure you eat as much as you possibly can--once i walked around a bit and ate more i felt a lot better. Here in michigan, it was hard to get outside (so scared of slipping on ice) but it finally cleared up, and walking has been really, really nice. just don't overdo it. and, drink a lot of water. don't need dehydration and hunger making you feel worse than you already do! I went to clinique yesterday and found this awesome concealer for the stubborn bruises--for the light discoloration (if it sticks around until you want to leave the house) you can probably just use foundation and powder. the concealer i got for bruises is " continuous coverage concealer " --it has two parts, this yellow stuff you use to cover up/neutralize bruises, and then darker stuff to match your skin tone. i like it, i feel normal now and people don't stare at me when i go outside. definitely lifted my spirits some. take care... pamela > > Hi Pamela, > Today and yesterday have been horrible.
