Guest guest
Szia Karola, I'm glad I remembered my Hungarian It should be better but with this surgery, I've had no time to study the Hungarian OR the Russian! Doesn't matter though- these days my English is incomprehensible too.... I have to admit that you lost me on " hallok feloled " . Please translate! I've been to Hungary 4 times... collectively I've spent 2-3 months there... some of the time out more in the countryside west of Budapest. I've seen the Tisza... and some of the time was spent in Budapest too. I've been to Veszprem! I know exactly where it is. I was there only for half a day, on the way to Balaton. I'm not sure of the spelling- Siofok? maybe is where I went on the lake. Veszprem was beautiful (I'm sure it is still!). I remember the cross there way out on, well I'm not sure what you would call it- not a hill.... You know the one I am referring to I'm sure. We had time for a walk around town. I have some pictures from there somewhere! Very pretty countryside and setting as I remember. My family is not from Hungary originally... Katja is actually just a nickname that I've had forever. :)But I think that we should have been from there because I have a great affinity for the cooking there.... I've travelled around Europe a little bit. I'd take what I ate in Hungary ANY DAY over French Cuisine. AND definitely over German food!! Ok, I have to stop thinking about it!! I can't eat anything right now, let alone dreaming of food that is separated from me by the atlantic! This is getting painful! Anyway, yes, I remember from Veszprem that there wasn't any faster way to Budapest than personal transportation- best to let your husband drive, I agree. You are going to have to try driving there sometime though!!! Think of how proud of yourself you would be!! I am SO excited for you about the house! That is thrilling... do you have all the plans laid out for the house already? Just waiting for better conditions outside?? It sounds like your work is very interesting. I hope you continue to get to teach what you would like.... How did you like SC? My closest friend from University is from SC. Anyway, enjoy the kalacs any way you would like. When I can eat again, I will have to wire you money to mail me 2 large loaves of it! I am literally drooling right now!! Oh! I am sure you missed all of the yummy baked goods while over here. I miss them while over here.... Can you tell how hungry I am?? I dreamt of food this afternoon. It's getting pretty bad, and I think I have weeks to go before I can eat again anything very tasty. How is everything going in Hungary with the transition into the EU? What do you think of it? I hear it's getting expensive there now... Well, I'm thrilled to find someone from there. I lost touch with my friends (from years ago). My boyfriend and I hope to visit someday (soon I hope). Take care and keep in touch!! You were a nice surprise to for me... to find someone from Hungary.... if you want to teach anyone some Hungarian, you know where to find me. My knowledge is pretty limited. Beszelek nagyon kicsit (spelling?) magyarul.... And I hope your tooth is feeling better! Let us know what the ortho says at your appointment!! Guest guest
Szia Katja, I almost cried when you said you visited my town even if for an afternoon. To have someone on this board who have visited here feels sooo good. OK I don't know where you live but I may well have crossed the town myself last year " hallok /felöled " means 'I will hear / from you'. I know what you mean when you say you're hungry. Right now due to my open bite and the work of the braces I only have one place where my teeth touch - and that is at the loose tooth so I pretend to chew but mostly live one food I can turn into mush. I try to keep it as normal as I can and save truly mushy food for later. I hope you are getting better. Think of how great it would be to meet here in Hungary sometime - like on your way to Russia ... Or even later when we have enough room to put guests up!!! We just visited the plot of land. It used to be a forest really and very neglected (neighbours were very unhappy) but they have cut most of the trees (they were old and dying )and the bushes by now and now we could actually see how big it is. It is on a corner and on one side a little river separates it from the road. It looks very romantic plus it is in a valley with healing properties. (They used to have a little boarding house for patients with lung disease and other respiratory problems becase the air is so good like in a sanatorium). The place has its drawbacks but I like to think of the good aspects. Maybe one day you will come and visit us. Nothing changed in our everyday lives since we joined the EU and the economy still needs a lot of improvement but there are good trends now. But life is expensive and we begin to build this house when it is hard to get by but we'll work hard. I hope you are doing better now. Guest guest
Szia Karola, I can't believe that we're both in this group and that you're from Hungary and that I've been to your town! I'm in NY State- I live in the city of Rochester which is directly south of Lake Ontario. On the nothern side of the lake opposite my city is Toronto Canada. Do you know what is really strange?!?! Whenever anyone else on this board mentions where they are from or live, in all of those places all over the USA and Canada and UK, I have never been to any of those places in my life!!! But, I have been to Veszprem!! I know what living with just a couple of functional usable teeth is like too! We're both pretty hungry I guess! My pre-surgery bite (and pre-braces bite) had my teeth meeting only in one place in my mouth. I ate a lot of soft food that I could, as you described, mush up pretty well and just sort of chew a little and swallow whole... But it won't be forever!!! I have forgotten.... for how long have you had your braces? And do you know roughly how long it will be until your surgery?? Thank you for asking- I am getting a little better. I have good days and bad days... I am relieved that it is less than one week until my next appointment with my surgeon for my three week post surgery recheck. I hope to get an idea at that appt. when I will be done with this splint and what my reintroduction to eating schedule might be.... I don't want to rush anything, but at the same time I hope I'm ready soon!!! How is your loose tooth feeling? I remember that you said at one point that it was painful... when will you finally see your orthodontist? You will have to tell me what he said about it! I know that I will be returning to Hungary. I don't know when, but I am sure that I will be back there. We will definitely have to meet each other! I would love that. I wonder where we will both be in this whole surgery/braces process by then? Maybe we can share the kalacs then? My boyfriend and I are planning to come to Hungary sometime in the future and I wanted to show him Balaton anyway, so we will come to Veszprem too.... Your land sounds wonderful...oooh! and healing properties!! You will have all jaw surgery patients flocking to your land after they have had their surgeries for fast healing!! All the better for you too!! Too bad we aren't helped more by pure air with our recoveries! When will you start building on your land? This spring/summer? This year? Soon I hope for you!! That is very exciting! I hope I can visit you some day... that would be wonderful. Well, it's getting late and I am tired! Keep in touch and tell me how your ortho appointment went/goes.... Take care and Happy Easter! Szia Katja PS, I will try to find my pictures from my time in Veszprem sometime this next week and maybe I can email you one of them if you'd like to see? > > > > Szia Karola, > > I'm glad I remembered my Hungarian It should be better but with > > this surgery, I've had no time to study the Hungarian OR the > > Russian! Guest guest
Katja, The closest I got the Rochester was New York and Niagara Falls. Actually it was exactly a year ago we spent a few days at the Falls. One of our most wonderful trips. Pity it was freezing cold at the beginning of April and the Maid of the Mist was not running yet. I have only had my braces a bit longer than 2 months and I hope less than a year till surgery. But my ortho is unwilling to say a word about a possible date. The Balaton and the shore is getting the most beautiful to me. I love spring and some of the trees are in bloom and it is just pretty. You definitely have to come sometime - early summer when the lake is still clean. (I never swim from mid-summer...) Remélem jol vagy ma es tudtal enni. Jo mulatast. Guest guest
Hey Katja, You need to get on the Breeze when they get it up and running again! I've been to Rochester once, usually pass it on the way to the Finger Lakes area for wine tours. Even though we have comparable wineries in Niagara, where I grew up, I like to sample and visit. We usually end up in Ithaca where we like to check out the bookstores. I'll wave as we drive past on the NYS Thruway next time : ) > > Szia Karola, > I can't believe that we're both in this group and that you're from > Hungary and that I've been to your town!
