Guest guest
A friend of mine told me (and I have to check it out for sure) that any insurance that offers coverage in our state has to meet the state basic minimum requirements. And (according to my friend who can't find the info right now), the State of Washington Basic Health Care coverage covers WLS when deemed medically necessary. Now, again, this is just what she said. I need to call the State Insurance Commissioner's Office to find out if this is indeed true. I'm sure I'm in for quite a fight with them as my BMI is only 41; however, I have a conjoined nerve in my back which prevents me from doing much physical exertion. I'm hoping my PCP will make the case that the weight needs to come off, or I'm liable to wind up having another surgery on my back to alleviate the pain that shoots down my leg. Whatever happens, I'll keep you posted. But in the meantime, try calling the Insurance Commissioner's Office and see what info you can come up with there. They may be able to call a special review and over-ride Regence. -jennifer > > ... > > Good luck...I also have Regence...I'm sorry to have to tell you this....but > unless you work for Boeing..chances are very slim. Guest guest
I have a whole support group of people up here with the same problem...maybe we can all do something as a group to get some attention. ~~* AJ *~~>>>>> really AJ? Those people also have Regence? Gee, I feel sorry for them! We dropped Regence in June and went with another one thats even better and says they cover whatever Medicare covers and we dont need a referral for anything and can go out of network without being penalized! What insurance did you end up going with? Not that I think it will make a difference for me as I get what ever is offered through my DH's work, but I'm interested in the info nonetheless. -jen
Guest guest
Really. Most have ended up going self pay and a few had to drop the idea...they couldnt afford the cost. The only people up here getting it covered either have insurance from somewhere else or are on DSHS...funny how if you're disabled they'll pay... AJ who was heading to disabled and decided to do something before it got that bad.
