I'd just gotten the Swine Flu Shot yesterday evening after hearing at the last

minute that they were giving them for that one day. I wish I'd read your message

before about your doctors telling you not to get the shot. Did they say why? I

coincidently have an appointment with my Neurosarcoidosis/Rheumatologist

tomorrow. I'm curious what your doctor said about it. I had the Swine flu shot

yesterday, but I have yet to get the regular flu shot...

However, I'm taking methotrexate (in which I'm sure the majority of us are all

taking some form of immunosuppressents)and since that reduces our ability to

fight infection/illnesses, if we were to catch the swine flu, I would assume, it

would make it extremely difficult for us to fight it off. I got the swine flu

shot (I will ask my doctor tomorrow if it was okay, although it's too late now)

because I am hoping this will prevent me from catching the swine flu altogether.

I'm not sure why they wouldn't want us to get the shot though...I would assume

because the swine flu shot is so very new and has only been used for a few

months rather than yearss as the regular flu shot and they wanted to wait a

while for more statistics on it.

Let me know what your doctor things .

Just an FYI-- the annual flu shot is remade each year-- and is often times an extension of the previous years stuff-- they just try to "guess" what the next strain will mutate into--

What they know about flu shots is that they help us if we get the flu to not have as severe a case compared to what we would have gotten had we decided not to get the vaccine.
