But be careful and make sure you chew well. At lunch with the Vitatour yesterday I didn't chew the turkey well enough and it got stuck. I had to rush to the ladies room. It seems I can't talk and eat. Since I never shut up at lunch I just stopped eating and brought my lunch home.:0) Fay Bayuk **300/168 10/23/01 Dr. Open RNY 150 cm Click for My Profile http:\ //obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/profile.phtml?N=Bayuk951061008
Guest guest
My pouch is " slightly stretched " and the stoma stretched as well. Had a revision last year from a proximal to a distal RNY. While they were not able to rebuild my pouch (horizontal pouch) they were able to place a silastic band around my stoma to correct the size. What a different having a smaller stoma made. Don't know how many surgeons are using silastic bands but it worked for me. CindyW _______ Original RNY 09/2000; Revision 06/2002 320/150/125 stoma yup same here, stretched. atonic, i guess. Doesn;\'t mean stretched exactly. it means flesh does not hold tight, is without tone, doesn't act right. Doesn't have the tensile strength. About most of us, " doesn't act right, " what's NEW? Geez. I asked Dr about revision of stoma. He said no revision. I said why not? He said No Revision. I know, too much info. love, ceep
Guest guest
I didnt have a stretched stoma, but I did have an atonic pouch.. meaning that the pouch was stretched.. enlarged.. and had no muscle tone.. I had no choice but to have a revision to rebuild the pouch.. as it was stretched to the point that I was staying in malnutrition as I couldnt eat any solids and was having difficulty keeping protein shakes down.. The revision to rebuild my pouch worked.. and my pouch is small and works just fine now.. The doctor did discover that my pouch was enlarged from 30 cc to over 200 cc in size and had attached itself to the lower stomach, the pancreas and the liver.. so some careful dissection had to be done in order to reconstruct my pouch.. It has been so worth it to have life without nausea/ vomiting daily.. I have had many problems related to having had weight loss surgery, but each problem or complication is just another small step in my getting to my ultimate goal... thin and healthy. I am sure each complication, each subsequent surgery.. the 4th is soon ... just makes me a stronger person .. and hopefully , I will be a positive force to some one else going through a difficult weight loss journey.. Take care Peachy hugs,
Guest guest
That seems like the only solution for now. But, surgeons that don't use a band, won't use a band...a matter of preference, I suppose. in NJ ********************** > My pouch is " slightly stretched " and the stoma stretched as well. Guest guest
The silastic ring is used a lot on the vbg. That is what I had 2 years ago and my surgeons have been using it for 6 or 7 years now.
