From what I have read up on I think you made a wise choice.

Hi

Sorry to hear you have heard negatives things about the Lap Band. I

have numerous friends that are having huge successes with it. One is

15 months post op and has lost 130 lbs and has never had any problem.

Another has lost 71 lbs since October with no problems as well.

The Vertical Gastric Banding is very different from the Lap Band that

even Kaiser is going to offer now. The FDA approved it in 2001.

Vertical Gastric Banding does have a lot of nagative information out

there. The Lap Band is working for lots of patients that can not have

the RNY Surgery for one reason or another.

I am hoping to be banded in September in Fremont. www.obesityhelp.com

has a lot of good information about all of the weight loss surgeries

available.

Thanks Kathie - I appreciate hearing other opinions and the best of luck to you.

I am a kidney transplant patient and in talking to another health professional, I found that probably the reason why Dr. Stiles is hesitant is because I have a bit of a compromised immune system because of the medications I have to take for the transplant. Essentially, to have a band would mean another foreign body that could possibly cause a problem - ie, rejection and/or infections. So I think that's why they are hesitant in my case.

Thanks for the input and I'd love to hear from other lap banders.

Much luck -

in Cupertino
