For those of you woh get the feat newsletter-you have read this but for those

who have not and in light of the end of our rope postings I thought I might

share the information. It may not apply to anyone else but me -but I found it

very interesting/

A study was conducted on kids and impulse control- the part of the brain that

helps kids control thier behavior and impules is the frontal lobe. Kids who

spent alot of time playing video games{my oldest son with ODD did from the time

he was very young} may never have fully develped the fontal lobe portion af the

brain. Activitys that stimulate the frontal lobe include reading and

mathmatics-I am sure there are more but this is waht the reasearch listed. So if

the frontal lobe needs to be stimulated to help kids develp impules control then

more activitys with math and reading may in the long run help . I was sooo very

guilty of allowing my older boy to sit and play games for extended periods of

time-he was quiet-occupied and not throwing fits when he played. I cant undo the

fact I let him but if it will help him with out medication by simply spending

more time reading and such I think its a great idea. NOW the hard part will be

getting him to read{or do math which he hates. Any way thought I might throw

this out there-in case it may benifit anyone else. Lis aF
