There are ALOT of heavy women on welfare....and they have a horrible time

finding clothes. I think you could go to either of those places...Also call

your local welfare office and ask if they have a clothing place for

people....like here we have a place that women can get work clothes....etc

I always try to give anything to some service like that before I throw it

out. I also would rather give it to someone than say goodwill that resells

it. I want my things to help someone that can't go spend 5 bucks to buy what

they need....

Please look at http://www.dressforsuccess.org/. They have chapters

all over the country. They give clothes to women for job interviews

and for starting out with getting back into the work force.

Great ideas AJ and Steve!! I will look into both of

those ideas this week. I live in the Detroit metro

area, so there should be something in this area.

God Bless,

Mickey

Mickey,

I too live in the Detroit metro area and I have bags of clothes that are too

big. Our support group has a clothing exchange about every 4 months or so. Our

next one is in November and I have a ton to bring to it. I checked into some

resale shops but they are very picky and everything has to be cleaned, pressed

and on hangers. I just don't have time for that right now.

There are people on this list that probably can use your clothing and

would be willing to pay the postage.

I give everything away. It is a small gift that reminds me to be ever

grateful for this miracle that has come into my life.

i have only cleaned out my closet once since my surgery in april. i

gave 5.5 large trash bags of clothes to our local women's shelter.

the ladies told me that they seldom get plus size clothes donated,

and many of their clients are plus sized. these women often flee

their homes in the middle of the night with literally nothing but the

clothes on their backs. a lot of the clothes were ones that could be

worn to job interviews, and many of them still had their tags. i

have since lost more weight, and will be doing another closet

cleaning fairly soon. i decided not to spend a lot of money on

clothes while i am still losing, so i went to 2 thrift shops this

weekend and got 2 large bags of clothes for $50.
