Guest guest
Can you believe that I had my braces on for 9 months before they put on my molar bands? I didn't know that such things existed, but evidently they didn't have enough room to put them on in the beginning and had to wait to make spaces. I can sympathize with you. After they put on my bands, I tasted metal in everything I ate for a good two weeks. After about 10 days of the skin in my cheeks actually getting caught in the hooks on the outside of my bands, and swelling and bleeding, I called my ortho's office. One thing that I love about my ortho's office, is that almost every single person that works there has had braces in some point in their life, usually as an adult. " Give it until next week, " they said. And they were right. Just like when I had my braces put on originally my skin " toughened up " and I felt much better. Hopefully that's all it is. Also, do you have regular metal braces, or the clear ones? I believe the metal bands are made of the same material as the metal brackets, so if you didn't have a reaction to those, this may not be an allergy. But, if you've had a history of allergies to certain metals, better be safe than sorry and call you're ortho. If he looked at you he should be able to tell the difference between common discomfort and a possible allergy.
