Is there a reason you can't travel a bit? Check out how it works with your insurance. Go to WWW.Duodenalswitch.com and look at the list of surgeons. There are many many good ones. If I can head to Spain...going to another state is easy!!!! Also there are so few because its a more complex surgery. I've seen many state that with the RNY they can pop off several a day...and withthe DS...many only do 1 or 2 a day... ~*~ AJ ~*~ Age 37 5'8'' Post op 7/24/01 Open BPD/DS self pay - Dr Baltasar -Alcoy Spain 07/24/01 BMI 64 415.1 08/06/01 BMI 59 390.2 -24.9 lbs! 08/16/01 BMI 58 387.0 -27.9 lbs! 08/24/01 BMI 58 386.5 -28.6 lbs! 08/30/01 BMI 58 378.3 -36.8 lbs! Guest guest
> Even Doctors confuse the NEWER bpd/ds with the tragically flawed > BPD procedure from the past. I wouldn't characterize the Scopinaro BPD as " tragically flawed " by any means. Nicola Scopinaro, in my humble opinion, is a genius whose BPD procedure is responsible for malabsorptive procedures being made acceptable once again after the TRULY tragically flawed JIB. The BPD has been studied and reported on more extensively than any other modern WLS -- I would sooner have undergone today's BPD than any modern RNY. If you read Scopinaro's published report on the DS website, you'll see that his procedure has been studied and tweaked over the years, and it is still widely performed (mostly abroad, but some in the U.S.) today, and sees very positive, healthy results (as with any WLS, the of course assumes a compliant, diligent patient). Guest guest
Cindy, here's a list of Texas drs. from www.obesityhelp.com. Just go through them and call to see if any do the DS or know of one who does. Good luck!! Micky DS my preferred WLS > Hi everyone! Guest guest
I agree, . My dr. worships Scopinaro and his DS procedure is based on his work. I'm living prove that it is not flawed! My typo, my bad. I really did mean to say JIB was the tragically flawed one. Thanks Mel, for straightening that out for the readers. <g>
