Guest guest
I have to admit that my son seems to be MORE constipated off of gluten than on it. He is having MORE bowel problems OFF of it (maybe due to a lot of these ingredients having binding qualities--like rice & potatoes). I cannot say whether or not I will stay on this diet or not for my son. I do not necessarily agree that ALL children with autism have the leaky gut/peptide problem; there are many causes of autism. There is a definite genetic factor in my family (although not diagnosed, probably great-grandmother, grandfather, mother, father, at least one brother, two nephews, one niece, possibly my great-uncle, etc., etc., in addition to my son and myself). I will try to alternate foods and see if any particular one is constipating, but, if I can't pinpoint, I might go off the diet as well. He does not have bowel problems on gluten, only on milk. I think I might see more results doing at least a partial Feingold Diet. Treatment is not a one-size-fits-all thing, so, for some, this diet may not be crucial. Plus, I hate the word " treatment, " since I have no wish to cure my son's or my own autism.
