B,

I would suggest just going to your PCP for all your

aftercare. I live in NC but had my surgery in CA so I

depend on my pcp to do all my follow up. It has been

very good. I had my surgeon send all my surgical notes

to my pcp as well as a list of what lab work needs to

be done annually.

For problems I have a gastrointerologist (sp?) who has

experience with gastric bypass patients.

If you trust and like your pcp, I say dumb the surgeon

and go with your pcp.

in NC

B,

You are not alone in your feelings. So relieved someone else feels the same

as I do. I've been working with my pcp for this very reason.

I had an appt w/my surgeon but needed to cancel (think it was weather

related and I have about an hour drive one way). I rescheduled and despite

the fact I had a herniated disk (confirmed through pcp office) and had to

use a cane to get to the appointment I made it. Granted I wasn't doing my

vits as well as I should've (made me sick before I found 's -

Vitalady). Imagine my surprise when I read a letter in my file at the pcp's

office stating that I missed my one appointment, came in with a cane for the

rescheduled one and was a " non compliant " patient. I haven't been back.

The only problem is my pcp, she's wonderful, is now dealing with my low crit

and thinks ferrous sulfate will make it better. I haven't the heart to tell

her otherwise, so I've been taking the trinsicon (prescribed long ago by

surgeon ) and liquid iron.

Basically, I'm no help to you, LOL I just understand where you are coming

from. I dont' have the option for another surgeon though. I don't have a

support group (other than this wonderful list - thank you -and my dh). Just

to let you know, you aren't alone and best of luck to you.

p.s. my surgeon didn't even do protein drinks when we had our open rny's.

What to do if you don't like your surgeon?

> Seeing a recent post by another member of the list brought up a question I

have had. Has anyone else had the experience of deciding post op that you

don't like your surgeon? I had been avoiding my follow-ups and just went

back two weeks ago. I suddenly remembered one reason why I didn't want to

go back to him.

it was happening and everyone in the hospital and him too ignored me when I

saw the spot. In his office he did something and squeezed the incision and

turned away and I looked down and I was split wide open ... I was terrified.

AND the thing that really got to me... he never washed his hands, nor did

he wear gloves when he touched that open incision. Not once have I seen him

wash his hands on an office visit. He would weigh me and after touching the

scales touch me, write in the files, etc. He may have washed his hands

after I stepped out of the exam room but I never saw him do it. And I did

see him call in the next patient. GROSS.
