Guest guest
Christee My understanding is that the distance between heels should be equal to the shoulder width. Philip Bar Length...how to.... Ok, am pretty sure my daughter needs her bar lengthened. But I have heard a few different ways to measure it. And they end up with different measurments. So I need some info on how to properly measure it. I know that I am to measure from outer shoulder to outer shoulder. But do I measure the bar from bar to bar where the inner part of the shoes meet the bar. Or am I to measure from the bottom of the shoes from middle bolt to bolt. That would be like from the middle of one shoe to the next. There is about an inch difference between the 2 ways so I need to make sure I do it correctly! She is in the P/M 22/7 Thanks for the help i n advance! Guest guest
Hi Christee, We also measure from heel to heel, I just eyeball it. Our ortho who also has a rcf btw and who is just excellent, measures this way too. Grace is at 14 in and has been for a few mos. We have an adjustable bar which makes it so much easier! That way, you can also move up a half a size, you just move one side. This has allowed us to really see where she is most comfortable, she has always liked her bar a bit on the wide side. & Grace 16 mos > > Christee > > My understanding is that the distance between heels should be equal to the > shoulder width. > > Philip > > Bar Length...how to.... > > Ok, am pretty sure my daughter needs her bar lengthened. Guest guest
There is a lot of guess work in adjusting the bar but a basic rule of thumb for the bar is to measure from the center most screw on the bottoms of the shoe. That does seem like the middle of the foot rather than the heel but when you look there is a lot of dead-air behind the actual foot inside the shoe so it works out about right. And again, it doesn't have to be adjusted to a fraction of an inch in accuracy, that would be impossible but get it close. Measuring the shoulders isn't an exact science either on a slumped baby! Good luck, s. Bar Length...how to.... Ok, am pretty sure my daughter needs her bar lengthened. But I have heard a few different ways to measure it. And they end up with different measurments.
