He put me on Topamax...a seizure med that helped me lose about 10 lbs in 3 weeks before my surgery. He likes it because the side effect is loss of appetite...which I had...I had to remind myself to eat and insurance pays for it if he prescribes it correctly. He didnt put it down as a weight loss measure. I don't take it anymore since my surgery but it did help. I don't know how long it works or if its the best thing to do but I figured for a short time it couldnt hurt! ~~* AJ *~~ Age 37 5'8'' Post op 7/24/01 Open BPD/DS self pay - Dr Baltasar -Alcoy Spain 07/24/01 BMI 64 415.1 08/06/01 BMI 59 390.2 -24.9 lbs! -10.75 inches 08/16/01 BMI 58 387.0 -28.1 lbs! -11.25 inches 08/24/01 BMI 58 386.5 -28.6 lbs! -15.5 inches 08/30/01 BMI 58 378.3 -36.8 lbs! -21.25 inches 09/10/01 BMI 57 373.0 -42.1 lbs! Guest guest
I've been rx-ing low doses of Topiramide/Topamax also. It helps stabilize moods as well as seems to often help with weight issues. Be cautious of any cognitive changes. Sounds like your doc is up to date on treatments. That's always great to hear. in Seattle > In a message dated 9/15/01 11:36:29 AM Pacific Daylight Time, > pennykit@h... writes: > > > > Wellbutrin/Bupropion and Serzone/Nefazodone are two of the best in > > not causing weight gain and nor having sexual side effects.
