Regular Orthopedic Surgeon

Hi all,

I'm bored to tears on this day after Thanksgiving and just thought I would

share our recent experience.

My older son (non-clubfoot kid) twisted his ankle a few weeks ago. It was

still bothering him a couple of weeks later, so we took him in to see the

pediatrician. She ordered an x-ray. A few days later her nurse called and

said that the x-ray showed a small fracture in his fifth metatarsal and he

needed to see an orthopedic surgeon. She asked if we had a " regular " ortho

surgeon. I replied that we did, but he is 91 years old and practices in

Iowa. That gave her pause! LOL She recommended someone local and Josh is

in a heavy boot for the next 4 weeks.

Little Miss Olivia (my 4yo clubfoot kid) is beside herself with glee that

her brother has to wear a " cast " now. You may remember that Livie had a

relapse at 2.5 yo and had to wear a two week cast. She remembers that one

and has seen a billion pictures of the 22 casts that she had as a baby also.

This ped is also a new one for us and she saw Livie last week for her 4 year

check-up. It was the first time she had seen her and she was duly impressed

with her clubfoot correction. I got to explain the whole Ponseti process

and history to someone that actually was interested and whose eyes didn't

glaze over after the first two minutes! What a treat for Mommy!!

Just wanted to share!

Jen & Livie (10-18-01 severe left clubfoot)
