What to expect for first week with a DOC Band

Hi,

My 6 month old son had his scan at CT Paramus last Friday.

We expect to get his DOC Band next week. What should we expect for

the break in period? We're particularly concerned about this as he

is in daycare 4 days a week, and I was just told today that the

teachers will not remove his DOC Band, that they would contact us if

there are any issues (the example being if he vomited in his band,

they would not take it off to clean his head but call us). I think

it's a combination of liability issues (what if they put it on too

tight/too loose?) and just not having the bandwidth to handle

special circumstances (or not wanting to set too much of a precedent

and end up having special circumstances for each and every child).

We're very happy overall with the care at our daycare provider, so I

don't want to make this an issue (and they've had other children

before with bands/helmets), but would like to have an idea ahead of

time of what we will need to do/check and how often so my husband

and I can adjust our schedule as necessary if we need to make visits

to the daycare to check up on him during the day. For example, I've

heard that we would need to check for red spots - how often is this

recommended for the first week or two?

Hope this was clear.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice,

, mom to (6 months old, soon to be DOC Band wearer, also

right tort)
